I'll admit he was not high on my list but after reading this he could very be the best-fit no one's talking about. Nothing pretty or sexy but checks all the boxes, especially leadership. If you like Parcell sounds like he's about as close as you'll find ( gets a strong endorsement from Parcell BTW).

He’s not a big name, but he could have big success.

The Cowboys are now sitting at 6-6 after getting embarrassed by the Buffalo Bills at home on national television, and depending on who you listen to, Jerry Jones has already decided he’s going to move on from Jason Garrett unless the embattled head coach can somehow win a Super Bowl.

This is someone I heard mentioned on Thanksgiving from an insider friend I know.

Much more likely than some of the Big Names being thrown around.

Jerry’s familiar with him as an explayer too.

No thank you. Use to hear his radio spot on Bad Radio when he was the Interim HC for Miami. Said he didn’t know what he was doing basically. It was funny and he’s a likable guy, but I wouldn’t want him for this team.

Eh. I'd be willing to give him a shot. Better than JG or someone from within the org. Plus, maybe he's learned a thing or two from Sean?

He is exactly the type of coach needed. But I think Jet is going bigger.

I'd venture to say that he's another name on the team's list.

What scares me is what the article mentions about maintaining so much of the existing coaching staff. If Campbell was 'retaining Rod Marinelli' because he played for him in Detroit? Or keeping Moore and Kitna based on the Joneses suggestions? He'd be part of the problem and not the solution.

He was thrown into the fire there. From TE coach to HC is one hell of a jump mid season.

What he did do was cut out the BS from the former tirefire HC in Philbin and bring back no nonsense practices.

His tenure started out strong, with two blowout wins. Injury to Cam Wake wrecked the defense and a lot of Philbins damage to the offense(coaching staff) was still there.

He's spent 3+ years with Sean Payton now.

Not saying he's a great prospect or anything, but it's kind of unfair to judge his tenure as an intern HC.

100%.......I can live with retaining Moore and Kitna but keeping Marinelli would be a deal-breaker for me. In fact, I rather purge the entire staff on that side of the ball. We've got to fix the defense to any chance and that starts fresh coaches from A-Z IMO.

what is his current title and dutys?

ut one name that isn’t being talked about as much, but could potentially be the best possible fit for the Cowboys, is Dan Campbell. Currently serving as the Saints’ assistant head coach and tight ends coach, Campbell has 25/1 odds to be hired. While not nearly as famous as Meyer or Riley or McDaniels, Campbell would check a lot of boxes.

For starters, he comes from two very rich coaching trees. Obviously, Campbell currently serves as the top assistant to Sean Payton, and has done so for the last four seasons. Campbell has played an integral role in the Saints’ resurgence after enduring three straight 7-9 finishes; according to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero, Campbell is “heavily involved” in the Saints’ running game, which features Alvin Kamara, as well as addressing the team every week on breaking down the upcoming opponent and summarizing keys to the game.

Campbell also works with the tight ends and has gotten solid production out of a constantly-changing position group since arriving in New Orleans

Agree completely.

Like you, I can live with the new coach keeping Moore and Kitna - if THEY choose to. But any mention of the Joneses suggesting it and I'm out. And fixing no the defense is a big requirement I have of any new head coach. Either they have to know defense themselves, or be well connected enough to have a good defensive coordinator in mind.

This is the type of coach Jerry has historically chosen. Not in particularly high demand, therefore owing his job to Jerry, ergo pliable to Jerry's will and won't get in the way much.

He'll likely get strong endorsements from Parcell and Payton. Also, notice what Colts GM said about him. He could very be a much stronger candidate than many wanna believe.
