Interesting stuff, so if we lose tonight JG is out, or will the story change to 9-7? Could you ask him for me tomorrow night?

I must say I'm not shocked that a local liquor store and bar guy know more about the Cowboys...considering the owner and his drinking habits.

Like JJ goes to the store and buys his own liquor. The man's a billionaire, he has orders delivered to his house, if he doesn't have somebody order it for him.

Get real...

The fan base will revolt if they sign Garrett. I am sure of this. Jerry is not a stupid man, he sees this. He has lied before. Probably told him that to inspire him.

I will say this...if Garrett is signed I may be gone. Not going to another team but I will completely check out until the thing burns down. Which it will.

the fan base is full of morons (the blind Garrett apologists) and cowboy addicts (like us) and Jerry knows that

we ain’t going anywhere

Chicago needs to put us out of our misery. Probably win tonight now. lol

I will root for a win, as long as we have a chance to make the playoffs, I can't root for a loss. As it doesn't mean Garrett is gone, not even a nail in the coffin. Not when Jerry is using thumb tacks instead of nails.

However if we lose, I won't be as upset as usual. I will probably just laugh, and inside, say, yeah, one step closer to a new HC. Maybe Jerry buys longer nails.

Of course. You are one of the biggest Garrett guys on here. I am sure he appreciates the dwindling support.

That’s irrelevant. I’m not going to blame coaching when the real problems obviously rely elsewhere, but it doesn’t change the fact that the Cowboys are go to continue to grow value regardless if who the coach is. You’re fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

Maybe he pays one Gregory to go to the store for him. Take the limo, smoke a little on the way to get the order. :muttley:

A rare moment of self-awareness here. And something we apparently agree on, finally, visionary.

Anyway, tonight we are talking Cowboys and he told me he has it on good authority that Jerry told Garrett that if he wins out he will get a new contract. He said winning in the playoffs would not be a condition.

So what does "win out" mean? Win all the rest of the regular season games? Or does it mean win the Super Bowl?

I suspect the first sentence means win the Super Bowl, and the second means he can't just win a playoff game or two or even lose the Super Bowl, which bolsters what the first sentence means.

Anyway, they aren't winning the SB, barring an incredible string of luck, like Jackson, Brees, Rodgers, Mahomes and Goff all go out with season ending injuries and Dak getting hot like Flacco or Foles did.

In which case I'd still be okay with keeping Garrett, I'm so desperate for another SB win, however we get it....

So the guys delivers...Lighten up my friend, it was a comment on the drinking aspect, not who does the shopping...lol

well, I’m hoping you will follow Garrett to his new job at the Giants, and that’s another thing we can agree on

sorry I dont believe this but winning out will help his cause by IMO 2 playoff wins are the new bar..

If somehow this is true it will have to come with conditions that we get a new DC and if KM says he needs to further change this offense..

I seriously do not believe this to be 100% true.. all rumor as most media and persons close to the Star say anything short of an NFCCG appearance and garrets gone..

I also believe this..Jerrys looked embarrassed and deeply hurt by the 6-6 start and has started to get comfortable with the idea of starting anew..

It's going to be interesting for a lot of people on this board. Who will look back on this post in 4 weeks and realize that Dallas has won 3 in a row and a win against the Skins would mean JG is given a new contract. I wonder in that situation, do they stay fans and root for the team to be successful or do they root for their agenda over the team and pull for Washington?

Are we sure "winning out" doesn't mean playoffs too? I have a hard time believing we end up at 10-6 and he gets renewed on that alone. I'd quit for awhile.

I'm not putting this on you only because I've seen this multiple times but I don't get the "agenda" talk. I'd bet less than 1% here would rather be right about JG than see a SB. The issue is we have an owner with such a low bar for a coach that its tough to bear. If playoffs isn't in the conditions, then it's just hard to stomach in general. I also don't buy what the old man said because Jerry said being #1 overall is what is important right now.

It's silly to say that winning big doesn't interest Jerry, if for no reason other than profitability. All things being equal, the Cowboys have more value when they win than when they lose.

Now, whether Jerry is willing to do whatever is necessary to win is another story. Obviously he isn't completely willing - he admitted a few years ago that if he had a separate GM he would have fired him, yet he continues to act as GM anyway. But Jerry has shown a willingness to spend, and he clearly is passionate about his team, but his ego won't let him step aside and let others take more control.
