Gonzalez and Gronk are both better in my mind because they could stretch the field. Witten could only stretch a rubber band.
That might even be tough? Although I did see him catch one where he ran for 2.7 yards so that upped his yac to 1.5 yds avg and it's only that high because he caught a 9 or 10 yard pass for a touchdown Thanksgiving LOL

Witten needs to spend more time on the sideline

Blake Jarwin - 7 targets, 6 catches, 50 yards
Jason Witten - 7 targets, 5 catches, 37 yards
Snaps: Jarwin - 22 (30%) Witten - 56 (77%)

Yes.

In their schemes they were pass catches mostly.

Witten was asked to block a ton.

Still is. So to me he was better for us.

Plus look how long he has played. Incredible.

Opinions differ.

I can read lips and he said something about giving up a promising career in broadcasting for this !#$#@! and then something about how he's going to have to go to truck driving school to make ends meet. That's all I could make out:muttley:

As I said he definitely doesn’t need the money

the great myth of his great blocking, after he catches the ball he looks for a place to fall. sad but true.
Unlike these other TEs who did not block much..

Witten does. That has to affect not being tired.

I bet he is exhausted after a game.

And not get caught holding or clipping.

Saw him throw up his hands on one play where he had done one of those screen blocks as if to say..

"Not me brother".

It was funny.

:lmao:

If he would have been talking about his new Xbox game, they would have been listening!

Did anyone notice that first drive how Jarwin was making plays and picking up first downs then he was basically just gone. It's so weird to me that Witten is getting playing time. When it's 3rd and 7, it takes Witten 5 seconds to get 4 yards down field thus leaving us short if the balls goes to him, Jarwin on the other hand can get 7 yards downfield in less time and pick up 1st downs. It's truly comical that the guy gets to play big minutes at tight end.
Team placed Jarwin on a milk carton after the 1st series......then we see him for the cosmetic yardage. Witten was rather hypocritical, given his "calm down talk" to Dez in Detroit during the Calvin Johnson 200 yd game. Witt is as done as a dry turkey on the table that nobody wants to eat.

So is Jarwin. You think Jarwin would be starring somewhere else? Witten plays more b/c he's still the better player. Nothing was promised to him when he returned to football. He earned it. About the only thing Jarwin wins is a foot race.
I agree to an extent....witten had every right to say he wants to play and compete....the coaches, owner/GM could have said no, but they didn't.....they could have started Jarwin, but they didn't. and if Jarwin was heads and shoulder above, then he would start. facts are that our TEs suck.

Exactly. He is what is wrong with the culture of this team. Free passes and no accountability. He had sucked for the few years before he "retired". Goes away for one year and is allowed to come back and take back over the TE position. He has NEVER let any TE behind him develop. Jarwin is a real good talent but we never know because this useless bum is still here running his 4 yard routes that do nothing. Screw him and his act. He's as bad as Dez was with his sideline rants but the cameras never showed him.

This is the kinda crap that makes me laugh. Why were his and #88s numbers down? BECAUSE OF THE CRAPPY PLAYER AT QB! The brought this guy back not only for his talent, but for his leadership. All this hatred for a sure fire 1st ballot HoFer is beyond silly. It's downright ignorant. He could start on the majority of teams in the NFL right now. If he had a QB who do do more than throw a 6 yard slant no one would be talking any crap at all.

Should be yelling at himself for taking playing time from the better, younger TE, who is more capable of picking up important yards and making big key plays.

I'm amazed (and disgusted) by some of the comments here trashing Witten.

I'm all for Jarwin starting, but the hate for Witten is really uncalled for.
