What do you think he’d have cost at that point? Or are you saying your pretty happy with Elliott’s extension?
I'm glad Hitchens has done well but he got 45 Million over 5 years. Plus we got the comp pick back. Would he have started over Jaylon, LVE or Sean Lee?
That dude who payed linebacker for us that quit cause he like to chill and drink that purple drank was a lot better. He’s was pretty dang good
Zeke is an elite player and his contract "is what it is", it wasn't going to be less than that. Its also structured in a pretty team friendly way upfront with a low signing bonus.
We know the cost of Hitchens, it would have taken more than 45 Million over five years (and we lose a 4th round comp pick). Hitchens is a good, not great player. Jaylon played like a great player last year and regressed to play like a good player this year. I'll Jaylon every time, even losing his first two seasons.
Yeah you've made that pretty clear ever 3 posts.I would definitely take Hitchens over Jaylon.

No he won’t!!! That dude has a disability... not sure why he’s still in the league!Put Jaylon with a real coaching staff and hed be more consistent.
I think you're onto something there I'm not ready to write him off completely yet or a lot of these players for that matter it's hard for me to believe that they're that bad? first of all I think the scheme is bad too many other issues to discuss at this time pretty much everybody here knows them they're pretty obviousPut Jaylon with a real coaching staff and hed be more consistent.
Hmm. See, I think we massively over drafted Zeke and then massively overpaid him. I think Jaylon was a bad risk on a guy who played well last season and who’s been exploited this season.
I miss hitch....he plays with fire and toughness......what i remember of him is that he played 1 week after a bad high ankle sprain, and played well helping the boys win a playoff game.....
and best of all......no nonsense swipe and clear eye bs.....
Dude could have been great, if he just wanted to be. He was one, that I really wish would have straightened his head out. I really wanted to see his potential.
He had all the attributes and he was tough. Didn’t mind mixing it up and getting physicalDude could have been great, if he just wanted to be. He was one, that I really wish would have straightened his head out. I really wanted to see his potential.
Coaching matters.
Is it possible that Jaylon Smith be even better if he were in KC and that system?
Steve Spagnuolo learned under one of the best 4-3 DCs ever in Jim Johnson. His blitzes are legendarily scary.
If we’re intent on keeping the 4-3 either get the stud DL like SF has at every position or go to a chaos causing 4-3 like Spagnuolo. Yes you will give up some big plays every now and then but if you have a good offense they should even out and put you ahead with turnovers caused by an aggressive scheme.
you are crazy...its throwing the baby out with the bath water....knee jerk reaction from cowboys fans...but typicalThis sounds crazy but I think I would take these two guys over Jaylon Smith and LVE if it meant Dallas would also have an impact DT.
Dude RoMc and Irving were sooo damn talented! They were constantly around the ball and making impact plays. I wish those nuts in their heads could've been screwed on tight because those are the types of talents you build around! Such a waste of talent!I posted that the other day, picture the defense this year with Rolando McClain and David Irving completely healthy and motivated. McClain, LVE and Jaylon would cover half the field by themselves and Sean Lee would be the only All Pro LB in a backup role.
