Would you sign Dak for 5-years, $175 million?

I'm thinking tag this year to see how he and the new head coach do together.

If not, with the numbers he's put up he would possibly bring a 1st and a 2nd with many teams interested at that price but I think whoever gets hired will be happy inheriting Dak.

I need to see more to make sure he hasn't reached his ceiling...franchise for me.

I would do it in a heartbeat. But he’s going to get a longer deal.

During the upcoming interview process with prospective coaches Dak will be a major topic of discussion. I don't think Jerry hires someone who thinks Dak can't play.

I have no problem with a franchise tag and let things play out another year.

More incentive to hire Urban Meyer.

If you could sign Prescott for that cost today, would you do it or not?

100%

Now if we had some great young QB waiting in the wings, maybe not.

That's is the going rate for a top 10 QB. Especially a kid like Dak entering his prime and showed this year that all the clowns that said he couldn't be a quality passer didn't know anything about QB play.

Would you stop it.

Who are these players you are gutting now?
Where are you getting these guys you are using to rebuild?

Having a QB make 35m doesnt prevent anything. Not saying I want to pay 35m but it doesnt prevent anything.

This sounds like an emotional overreaction to not getting what you wanted.

There are 30 plus free agents after the season. Not all of them will need a big contract but I'm reluctant to hand out big contracts to players and get painted into a corner. I'm not saying fire the whole bunch out of spite for having a bad season. I simply wonder if it is easier to turn the roster over during the next two seasons and go in a different direction rather than get married to a few pieces from the Garrett era which is tainted and hope to find better coaching. I wouldn't be upset if Dak gets paid or signs a long term deal and they build around him. I guess I just wonder how close they actually are now.

I would sign him yesterday to that. It takes some teams years to find a QB who can win football games. Lesser QBs have won super bowls.

Has Meyer talked about Dak at all?

I'd be really curious about what he thinks of him.

Talked openly? I'm not sure. But there are obvious connections through the Urban Meyer-Dan Mullen tree:

He will also have quarterback Dak Prescott who is familiar with Meyer’s offensive scheme because Prescott’s college coach Dan Mullen ran the same spread offense with a heavy running game.

Spot on! The gating question in the initial interview will be “can you work with Dak and, more importantly, can you win it all with Dak?” If the prospect answers anything but “yes, sir, Mr. Jones, I can make Dak the 2nd coming of Roger the Dodger”, Hog Jowels will channel his inner Soup **** - no 2nd interview for you today!

I wonder if it is smarter to not give out any big contracts and rebuild as opposed to paying this group and trying to win with them. Dak is a good QB so it would be hard to part with him but I also don't see the current collection of players being just a coach away. There is a toxic environment here that might need to be gutted rather than just shined up a bit. I don't think Dak is part of the problem but it's hard to rebuild when your QB is making $35-40 million.

Why would we rebuild when we have one of the youngest rosters in football?

Because Dallas is going to have to start paying those players sooner rather than later. Is there actually enough there for another coach to come in and win or do some personnel changes have to be made to fit a different coaching philosophy?

Id give him a 4yr fully guranteed deal for more money then what Wentz, Goff and Wilson will make.

4yr 120mil full guranteed. thats 13mil more then what any of these guys will make in the same 4 yrs. But will have a lower cap hit then all 3.

Tag is cheaper and you get another year to evaluate under the new HC. Can always sign him the following year.

At a higher rate. As long as you realize that A.) A new coaching staff will almost certainly realize that Dak is better than any realistic option...by a wide margin and B.) QB salaries will continue to climb because Mahones, Watson and a few other will blow past this current ceiling and you'll end up paying more, then sure, this is a good strategy.

Dak’s number is established with Goff and Wentz. The number is 31-33. The key thing is time and guaranteed money.

I think Dak is a quality QB. For me if it is a 5 year deal it’s 155 to 165 so 175 is too high.

Of course if they didn’t give 21 that moronic contract they would have more flexibility. They don’t.
