OMG where are all these Garrett stans coming from?

The Dude has been the HC for a DECADE, and has 3 playoff wins - and never more than one in any post-season.

Isn't it just two playoff wins?

Garrett's teams have had a well above average talent level during his tenure. Producing slightly above average results with well above average talent in general is a below average performance from the coaching staff over that time frame.

If he produced an above average record with below average talent, the entire story changes and he's a coveted coach across the league.

That's true for the last five years but not the first. For the first five years they had talent on offense but not on defense.

For the last five years won 12 and 13 games. He won in 9 games in 2017 when the NFL took Zeke off the roster and we had a mysterious lack of holding calls. In 2015 he won 4 games because Romo was out. Last year he won 10 games when he only had a decent WR for half the season.

He basically won the games you would expect with the talent he had.

Yup, if Garrett doesn't tell Weeden and Cassell to suck that season would have been totally different.

Weeden could have won in that offense, but Garrett was lost without Romo and didn't trust him. Cassell was brought in and rushed into the lineup and sucked.
If they had gone to Moore sooner they would have won.

My biggest issue with Garrett is that the team never over achieve (except maybe Dak's rookie season) and they usually under achieve. Garrett never gets the most out of his players.

So that's literally league average then. Although, I'd say we underperformed with our backup QBs in 2015. Most other teams are able to scratch out a few wins and some great coaches are even able to prosper with backup QB level play. We went 1-11.

I'd vote for below average performance over his entire tenure. Below average for 4 years is enough to fire let alone a decade.

I disagree. There are a handful of coaches like Belichick that will outperform their talent level but most NFL coaches will underperform it. That's why the turnover rate is so high.

There are 60 coaches that coached over 150 games in the NFL.

So like most things Jason Garrett................. he's pretty much average.

Oddly enough, he has a similar winning percentage as Wade Phillips (actually has a lower winning percentage than Phillips), who has coached 146 games and wasn't in the sample.

This is the reason Ive said many times Garrett is not a "horrible" head coach.

However, if you want to be great you musy win when it counts.

Which is why I label him as mediocre. You will have some success but always end up wanting.

But a 2-3 playoff record for a career spanning 10 seasons is pitiful at best.

Remember when Jerry fired Chan Gailey after going to the playoffs in his first season as HC because it wasn't good enough? What happened to that Jerry?

Gailey lost the locker room. Garrett is gone very soon, but he hasn't lost the players the way Gailey did.
