Opinions on Dak

First of all, I don't "need" to show a damn thing research wise when stating an opinion. That's why it's an opinion forum.
And either way, from a stat perspective, obviously the league doesn't keep track of "near" interceptions.

He had two giftwrapped picks dropped in the Rams game alone. I notice it a lot throughout the course of the season.
Yes, I'm sure every QB gets away with one or two but he gets away with a lot of them. In my opinion, more than most.

Can I quantify that statement with a "low light" reel of almost picks?
No, I cannot. And I'm not going to take the time to try and put one together, if it were even possible. If you think Dak doesn't get off the hook on a lot of lucky non picks, then we'll have to agree to disagree. Arguing back and forth isn't going to change either one of our minds.

well you’re certainly an angry Andy. “More than most QBs” isn’t an opinion. It’s stated definitively. Of course you can’t / won’t provide proof, which was ultimately my point. It’s a hyperbolic statement without anything to back it up, and that was my way of disagreeing with you. If it’s your opinion, cool. We can factually say he’s a league leader in wr drops though, which actually means “more than most QBs” without needing to infer anything

Hes an average QB. We could easily do worse but I like him at his current salary. We could do better but they are more comfortable keeping what they know than taking a chance on another guy who might only have more upside on paper (see all the 1st round blunders).

i think he's a Good to some games Great QB not SuperStar level like the breeze, mahomles etc... but hes a notch below Russ Wilson and around a matt stafford level, like above with good Oline and RB he can win you games maybe even the big one, but he's never going to be superstar level, but who knows i was really wrong about Rodgers.

I think Dak has everything you would want in a QB except for the arm. He is tough he is a hard worker, he is leader. But his physical capabilities throwing the ball are inconsistent. He throws a lot of balls behind the WRs . And Dak can go cold for periods of time. Dak rarely throws a WR open. You never see Dak throw to a spot on the field before the Wr makes his break. I wouldnt place Dak in the top 10 but maybe around 12. I like Dak but you pay him Russell Wilson money and that would hurt the teams ability to keep or bring in good players like Jamal Adams.

That's why he leads the league in drops. He has a real problem putting the ball where it needs to be. One of the few things I can find to critique about him, honestly.

From what we have seen through his first four years I think Dak will be an above average quarterback at best. Mostly sit in the 7-10 range until the likes of Brady, Rodgers and etc retire.
This of course if he continues to have a dominate OL and elite running back.

He's good enough to take over and carry against mediocre teams and will have the occasional game or two each season when he plays lights out against a good to great football team. Then he will be meh the rest of the season

Now if Dak can ever learn how to hit receivers in open strides or lead receivers this may change slightly. It's almost getting cringe worthy

Come on dude. This isn’t a serious statement.

He does have a point. Was all over his scouting reports and still suffers with this problem. Why he continues to throw behind his receivers

He doesn’t have a point. Saying Dak never does it is flat out not true.

He’s needs more time than I thought...not liking his red zone or sloppy passes that can lead to TOs. That hasn’t improved, but he’s done well in some other things to have me hopeful. ...still a few games left for final thoughts, but so far it’s been very up and down with everyone else. Inconsistent is a good word.

I'm making this thread to take the board's temperature on Dak after this the games played so far. I know last offseason everything was about Dak hate and love.

Personally I liked him last offseason but I felt he needed to prove he's developing this year. I'd certainly say he did so and thus I'm all in on Dak as our franchise QB.

What say ye?
What Ithink has been satisfying is..

has been Dak being considered better than Wentz.

Not of course outside Philly, but generally around the football world.

At least maybe this year depending on the Sunday game results.

Dak needs to win more games that are meaningful before he is really accepted Loke Wilson or Rodgers or Brees.

Then he needs to compete with guys like Mahomes and win there.

But that is a ways away.

Right now he needs to learn to win with injuries like he great ones do.

Rodgers has had to deal with it as has Bree's and now Mahomes.

If Dak can do that..then he will lose his image that everything has to be perfect and clicking for him to win.

Ok let's be technical and change the word to very rarely. A back shoulder fade doesnt count. I'm talking about the ball being in the air before the Wr makes his break. Iij just dont see it.

You should watch more closely then.

His anticipation has gotten better. It’s not perfect. He has room for improvement for sure. But he throws the ball before a receiver breaks, on a pretty regular basis now. For routes that call for it.

This sites opinion of Dak won't change. If anyone hated him last offseason they'd still hate him now. Anyone who liked him will still like him this year.
Hated him last year but I’m converted. They need to pay that man. He also needs to keep improving he’s got a lot of flaws in his accuracy and anticipation but better than last year for sure.

I like Dak. I think he's a good QB. He's not elite and still needs improvement. If he regresses next year I'll have another opinion.

I guarantee you this will quickly turn into a Prescott bashing thread. Every thread about Prescott ALWAYS does.

So you didn't see the two giftwrapped INT's that got dropped vs the Rams? is it "hyperbole" if it actually happens?

While officially a "stat", drops are subjective as well.

When a WR gets a hand on the ball, it's considered a "drop" for some of these stats, even if it's a late/off target throw. The old "if you can get a hand on it, it was catchable"
Hence Dak's propensity to have more "drops" than other QB's. He's late and behind on throws. Regularly. Maddeningly. Just because a WR can get his hands to the ball doesn't mean it was truly a good, catchable pass. Dak is a walking case study in this instance.

Also doesn't take into account the awful throws he has that get caught, such as the one about 8 feet over and injured Cooper's head that he somehow went up and got before getting torpedoed, or the throw about 2 feet behind Witten that he snagged with one hand behind his body while sliding inside the pylon.

I'm not angry. We simply disagree. I know with absolute certainty I'm not the only one who sees the regular dropped INTs.

I’m probably in the small percentile whose view changed. Never disliked him, but was underwhelmed with his 17 and 18 campaign. This year he proved to me he deserves an extension

of course I saw the dropped ints, that’s not debatable. My contention and what’s hyperbole is the “more than most QBs”. I’ve also seen seen literally every other qb in the league do the same practically every game.

drops being subjective is irrelevant since they’re subjective across the board. I’ll wager you believe Daks “drops” are caused by him “more than most QBs” tho lol. Anyway no point in carrying on further, you have made your position abundantly clear.
