Lowest Cowboys TV ratings in a decade

If you want to look for hope that the owner's hand might be forced with a "credible" HC, read the link.

If the Cowboys are not the TV darling as they've been, that will get a reaction from this owner only second to a drop in revenue. It is important to him that they are #1 in both.

The other interesting ratings are locally where the Cowboys can't pull a 33 share when playing the Patriots. That means 67%+ of the viewers in the DFW prefer not to watch the Cowboys against the defending SB champ.

There is another movement on in the DFW market with the Mavericks and their young superstar, Luka Doncic, that may get the owner's attention. He will not be happy taking a backseat to Cuban and his team and this kid is for real. And don't think Cuban isn't aware of the opportunity.

The best quote I've seen from anyone regarding DFW as a sports town was when Aikman was asked if Dallas was a good sports town. His reply was "Dallas is a good winner's town".

You want a fire under this owner's butt, let him be second behind Cuban.
The Cowboys will always rule Dallas.
But this post is accurate in a relative sense.

They future is very bright for the Mavs and they are one of the NBA's most fun teams to watch.....with their top stars all also being very, very young.

It's never been fully an either/or thing, and that also includes the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers, but there is truth one franchise (Mavs) capturing the imagination and media attention more than they normally do.

As long as there are strip clubs in dallas, middle aged men will be taking young ladies to cowboys games. Stars and mavs games, too. And vegas.
They haven’t always and what helped bring about our last ownership change as Cowboys we’re losing money.

I'd imagine they will be in good shape after today's game... as far as viewership is concerned that is.

It goes further back. There is an entire generation of football fans who have never seen the Cowboys play in a Super Bowl.

The Dallas Cowboys fan base is aging, starting to die off. If you're 25 years old the Cowboys aren't anything special.
Ratings haven't been slumping for 25 years. The crap on the field yes, I agree but this is different. Apathy has set in among ALL boys fans

Whether me or anyone else feels that Jones is the problem, until you or someone else offers him over 5 BILLION dollars for the Cowboys and he ACCEPTS, there is ZERO that you, me or anyone else can do about it so whining about it does less than ZERO. I've never understood why so many here whine about Jones knowing it means less than zero and has less than zero chance of changing anything.

The results of our complaints shouldn’t deter fans from speaking out about and continuing to apply pressure making Jerry less comfortable. Which is the only way to hopefully bring about any changes.

Great post coach.
The truth is, Jerry’s Cowboys have been in last place in accomplishments compared to other 3 major sports teams in Big D since the Cowboys last SB:
  • The Dallas Stars Hockey team won the Stanley Cup in 1999, then won the Western Conference again in 2000 before losing in the Stanley Cup Final.
  • The NBA Dallas Mavericks have won a championship in 2011, and previously in 2006 won the Western conference before losing in the NBA finals.
  • The Texas Rangers won back to back American League championships in 2010 and 2011 although they lost the World Series both times.
So the 3 other major sports teams in Dallas have won two world championships and six conference championships...the Cowboys have 3 wild card games.
This all true.
And with the Rangers new, epic, in-door/out-door stadium and the Mavs capturing the imagination of the NBA league-wide, those two are going to get a lot of attention and attendance in the coming years..

But Dallas is a football town. Add up all the attention from all three of those franchise--even with their accomplishments--and it may still not equal the attention the Cowboys get. Whether they deserve it or not.

If you think ANYTHING written here is even read by Jones you must believe in just about every fairy tale known to man.

So is the world ending at 1:37 this afternoon or is it at 2:14pm? Surely this must mean that we only have minutes or an hour before this world ceases to exist.

Have you never critiqued a product or entity you support sir? It’s not that difficult of concept.

I understand that we are all Cowboys fans here but I have been following the Mavericks since 1995 although I am not residing in the US. I can confidently tell you that Luka, who I have been following for years playing here in Europe, is for real and a talent which comes once in a generation. The Mavericks are so lucky to have him. Whats more, the Mavs have a great coach in Carlisle who managed to creat a very solid but great to be team with a bunch of role players apart from Luka and Porzingis. People not only in DFW area but all around the world are excitingly following this team. Heck, they just beat the best two teams in the east conference ON THE ROAD without Luka!

25 Years of Jerry GM ball will take its toll even with the fan base......and with Stephen coming up expect the downhill to continue....
I can understand low ratings with the Pat's in that weather.

Not much chance for anybody but NE to win there like that.

No surprises..

If they win today..

Dallas will jump right back up there.

It's very important to the NFL to have Dallas in the playoffs.

They have a huge fanbase that crosses over everywhere.

Money money..money.

We are discussing about the entire Metroplex viewing area potential impact not a few anonymous members on a fan forum.

Also it should be pointed out that the Cowboys are the most valued sports franchise in the ENTIRE world. The Stars, Mavericks and Rangers aren't even in the top 50.

Thank God for YouTube SB highlights because they don't know what a VHS tape is.

Yes I have but it's been on the company's own website that they review. The Cowboys, Jones doesn't spend a single second reading things here but you have this fair tale idea that he does.

As a fan, I honestly don’t know if this moves the needle, because national fascination, ratings, net worth means nothing. This team could be televised via public access or tin can/string, aired to dozens so long as the football standard weren’t compromised. And that would be stellar.
