why?

his stats are good.

catch percentage is 74. 3 points higher than his career avg.

has 4 TDS. Yards and catches are down, but not a lot.

don’t get the #WittenHate from some of you.

No Witten hate here but he limits us too much. He can’t stretch field, too slow, no yac potential, and now he drops balls too. We can do better from that position.

his catch percentage is actually higher this year. Up 3 points.

sure he’s slow. He’s never been fast.

He’s still a good blocker and he’s a team leader.

He is a good blocker but his leadership doesn’t make much of a difference because this is a soft team with no heart or fight.

Witten is an old player and it happens to the best of them. He's still crafty enough to make an NFL roster so I'm fine with him competing for a spot. But the team needs to use FA $$ and/or a high draft pick on TE. With a new coaching staff and legit competition, let the chips fall where they may.

That drops thing was just a few moments in the last couple of weeks, not a chronic problem. Over the season his catch % is among the best seasons in his career.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Has it dawned on people that his "leadership" could be the wrong kind and always has been?

I just hope he’s not a Cowboy next year.
Nothing wrong with him being a Cowboy as long as his role is reduced. He still has value as a role player, just not much as an every down player.

witten is a hallof fame player but the cowboys haven't won anything any more with him than they did without him his great leadership hasn't done a lot for this team as far as winning any thing of importance

and yet his stats are still strong.

Still making catches and TDs.

He could play another 2-3 years.

Enjoy it.

There is no “yet” to what I said. His stats are strong for a role player, but not for the primary TE. I agree he could play a few more years, but not as the go to guy at the position.

as much as people like to say hes washed up

8th in catches
14th in yrds
Tied for 8th in TDs
And one of the best blocking Tes in the NFL

Not too shabby for somebody who is supposedly washed up
You didn't add drops in there Latin

Leadership isn’t just playing the active mentor role. Teammates have always praised Witten for being the role model for dedication and preparation. Even after Murray left, his advice was to watch Witten and do what he does.
What is Witten doing?

Witten is still far better at what he does than Dak is at what he does.

Its in my post .... that you quoted ... that is very short and therefore not hard to see within the post ... that you quoted ...lol

Do you need more detail? Work ethic, self discipline, not taking the game lightly or taking things for granted, always motivated, studying the game and all its nuances, not getting more wrapped up in money and celebrity than with the game, not cutting corners, a professional attitude, dedication to precision in his craft, not being an idiot off the field ....

Role Model (went to Cabo unscathed)….leadership (Jarwin stifled by lack of playing time)…..winning (Witt part of the 8-8s)…….?????
