He will make up something. It could be Assistant to President of Scouting and Player Development who the hell knows.

Or maybe it's just some wild pipe dream some of you have about some front office job What even more foolish is Garrett taking a made up position with made up duties instead taking another real job with some other team.

Hey, how come we're not blaming "real GM" Stephen or "quasi GM" McClay for this?

I was going to say I was going to give you a little but you obviously need a lot of education. Stephen is not the GM he's the COO and executive vice president of player personnel . McClay isn't the quasi GM he's head of the scouting department.

You are missing the point. If he gets a job like that he will never get fired. Good lord it's not rocket science. Hell he has been **** for 10 years and hasn't gotten fired yet.

Read that post again and notice the quotation marks this time.

They probably have to buy out his contract. He is under contract until the 14th, and neither side can move forward until then unless he is bought out or terminated.
I know fans want him fired. But that will be a very look for an organization that wants to attract talent. Any coach you actually coaching this team will be very hesitant to come to an organization that fires a coach two weeks before his contract ends. They will look kinder on the organization if the two parties can come to a mutual agreement.

With Garrett's contracting ending, our situation is not the same as other teams firing their staff
This is nonsense.

I've already kind of started distancing myself from this joke of a franchise. I play golf on Sundays, now. I haven't scheduled a single round around a Cowboys game this past season and I won't next year either. If Garrett is retained, I won't bother to even watch the games that wouldn't typically fall into my golf window. This past season (though frustrating as a die hard) was nowhere near as disappointing as it would have been if I would have wasted my Sundays watching this turd pile of an organization.

It will be obvious, if Garrett is retained as HC, that Jones and Co. have zero actual interest in winning. If they don't give a ****, why should I? I've been a fan since 81 and with all the hopes that were wrapped up in this squad this season, from an expectation standpoint, this might have been one of the most frustrating seasons I have ever witnessed. Doesn't seem to be a single team player on he roster. Just a bunch of individuals wearing the same laundry. If I had wasted all my Sundays this past season watching this crap, I'd be six feet from the edge right now. Thankfully I didn't. I got out and enjoyed myself, knocked 9 strokes off my handicap and had an absolute blast EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY.

I don't ever see myself not following the Cowboys (I'll still check in here once in a while) and I certainly won't root for another team but, I'm not scheduling another minute of my life around a Cowboys game again until they prove that they actually want to win. Keeping Garrett around would be a step in the opposite direction and and a slap in the face to the entire fan base. At that point, I'm (for the most part) checking out for a while.
The only reason I would probably follow anything the Cowboys do next year would be if I check in here. I have some friends here and some posters I like to chat with. That would be all.

Thank God! Keep it up Jerry with the HC conundrum! It’s paying dividends!

What is this talk of Garrett and GM? Am I living in a parallel universe? I mean Jerry and his son are never going to lose that title. Plus, what in God's name makes some think Jason would be good in this role? Is it people just grasping or do some think that is actually possible and a good idea? Just strange talk imo.

Maybe Jason is playing the long game. At each meeting, Jerry tells him he fired and Jason just tells him they will make it official the next day. But then Jason gives Jerry his sauce and the next day Jason comes in pretends nothing has happened and Jerry who can't remember firing him already has to fire him again. And this just goes on like this. Jason trying to push this until the Cowboys start training camp. Just a genius strategy by Jason.

I think its pretty obvious at this point that the hay is in the barn and Garrett is staying. I'm sure there will be some changes to the staff with the most obvious being the respective dual D coordinators will both be gone and someone new will be brought in. I see the "Clapper" having his contract renewed for another 3 years. Unless that happens no new coaches will want to come here.
