not looking bad?

How can he be so non self aware.

You destroyed this franchise. your entire fan base is looking forward to the day you meet your maker. Can’t look worse than that!
Im in the minority I actually love Jerry Jones

but i can say this with conviction

i grow tired of his ways especially with Garrett its just common sense this man should be gone

I hate posts like this. You dont have a clue how JG would be in regards to a new coach.
Not only that, there's nothing to say that Jason couldn't be of help to a HC in a different capacity.

Benefit from Jones's investment in Garrett?

What kind of idiot thinks that way? Who gives a **** what he accomplishes elsewhere; he sucks here! That should be Jerry's priority--ensuring his team is successful.

This is all about Jerry not looking bad. That's it.

As a businessman Jerry should know after you make a bad investment you cut your losses and move on. You don’t keep reinvesting in the same bad stock or company. All you do them is increase your losses.

If the families are so damn close, they can have meetings at each other’s houses, not in “The Star”. Once again, mixing business with football. The Star should be purely football related business. None of this lovey dovey bull crap they are doing. They are missing out on a critical interview window for potential HC’s. Damn, the Commanders and Browns are doing better than we are! That’s not something to be proud of! I know Jerry is basically going through a divorce but damn. Just fire him and go over his house everyday. It’s not that hard.
I AGREE.

Sounds like the sports writers see it as we do. Prepare for Jason being here until the 14th.

A separate source confirmed to me prior to the conclusion of the season that Jones could find a role for Garrett in the front office, which would open the door for a needed successor at head coach while not allowing another NFL team to benefit from the aforementioned investment he's put into Garrett. There's obvious interest between Garrett and a team like the New York Giants, as one example, and owner Jim Mara and general manager Dave Gettleman have already begun lining up interviews for their vacancy at head coach.

It'd be disingenuous to pretend Jones is oblivious to that possible marriage, because he isn't, at all. It's a scenario he'd prefer to not see materialize, yes, but this isn't to say he's holding up the train in a way that harms Garrett's chances of finding gainful employment. It simply furthers the point that the Cowboys could simply be working to carve out a seat for him in Dallas that doesn't involve Garrett being on the sideline anymore.

That could be maneuvered in a myriad of ways, so while Garrett (nor anyone in Jones' lifetime) will likely be not named general manager, granting him a chair as a consultant/advisor with power to help shape football operations is not out of the question. Furthermore, the topic has likely been broached between the two sides, although a clean cut is still the expectation.

Garrett has said his goodbyes to many within the building in Frisco, and jotted down the numbers of some to remain in touch going forward. A large chunk of his coaching staff is no longer under contract either, and even passing game coordinator Kris Richard -- the most notable free agent -- is slated to interview with the Giants. All things considered, it's never been more clear that this is the time for the Cowboys to move on from Garrett as head coach, and there's nothing right now that indicates they won't, unforeseen miracles aside.

What happens after that, in one way or the other, is what they're still talking about.
I feel sorry for Daniel Jones if Jason goes there. Jason is known for getting QB's hurt w/ his long developing routes and finesse OL affinity.

Just me guys but the more I think about it, I'm wondering if we about hear Jerry's stepping away from the GM role and turning those duties over to Jason. Jason and Stephen will run the day-to-day operation. It's highly possible Jerry just doesn't the energy to go through another coaching cycle and who you think he trusts with this team outside his family than Jason.

BTW.......while Jason was a Cowboy player from 1993 -1999, guess who was an assistant coach, Mike Zimmer 1994-1999. MMQB Breer is linking Vikes OC to Browns job as a possible package with a GM. the Vikes reluctantly tacked on an extra year to Zim contract last as a show of faith. With their young OC getting X amount attention, who you think they rather keep? Mike's already been there 6 years so we know the answer. In other words, he and Vikes could mutually decide to part ways regardlessly of what happens coz they're not willing to lose their young OC and give him another 4-5 years extension. Again just me but if I'm betting I see this shaking out as

Garrett as Cowboys new GM......
Zim as his first hire ( when you start hearing ex-players like Michael Irvin questioning the heart of this team )

According to recent comments made by Nick Eatman, many of the staff members that are involved with the organization will be relieved that the long anticipated release of Jason Garrett will be a relief to many of those whom he has lost favor with. According to his recent offerings, this has been going on for quite a long time and many will be relieved that it finally came to a head. Not at all surprising to me, all things considered. It's just a shame it took so long for the Dallas FO to see the light.

Did JG drum up fake interest from the Giants to pressure Jerry into thinking he has to give him some kind of job in the organization to "protect his investment" in Garrett. Is Jerry getting played, again?

Interest from the Giants in Garrett isn't fake at all.......Mara once said he would have hired Jason for a front-office position had Jerry not brought him as OC. He made no secret of his thoughts for Jason as an NFL executive.......

the next head coach will be a guy like garrett a first time head coach so the jones family can mold him into there image and do what they say with no resistance.

Jerry held on to Dez too long & Screwed him. Jerry held on to Room too long & almost screwed him (CBS to the rescue). Now Garrett, what if he hold son just long enough until all the head coach jobs are gone & then offers no job
and Jerry is fixated in making Dak to something he is not... get ready for more wasted years ...when the Jones wake up it will be too late

This is what I'm saying......notice the projected HC here. No way I see the Vikes letting him leave and giving Zim a new multi-year deal.

And after 10 years of mediocrity that interest is still there? I doubt it, but Jerry might still believe it is and Garrett could use that to his advantage.

I don’t buy that the Giants are interested in Garrett and, even if they somehow were, Giants fans ARE NOT.

Further, this is clear evidence that Garrett isn’t even respected in the league and relied completely on connections. The Giants are the other franchise he played in.

Great. Thats really setting up the new guy for success. Now he'll have Jerry AND Garret looking over his shoulder. Sounds like a winning formula.
