This will be a Stephen Jones hire and will be someone with NFL experience doubt it will be a yes man like the last two. I say they probably go with the OC from Baltimore or Gubiak from the Vikings.

If we go with a pro coach, then yeah, the OC from the Ravens Greg Roman is by far my first choice.

I'm mostly on the Urban Meyer train (whether or not that rumor has an validity to it or not) or Matt Rhule. Those two would be fantastic. I keep going back and forth with Greg Roman.

I also read an article somewhere that mentioned that they may "put a feeler out" for Chris Peterson. I feel that is a long-shot, considering he stepped down to take a break from coaching, but money and opportunity talk. I think he is a fantastic coach but I'm also a Boise State fan and part homer. :D

My please do not hire list is Josh McDaniels and Robert Saleh. Yuck!

Im actually worried about Mike Zimmer.

I know he’s under contract but the Jones’s love him and they may move mountains to bring him in here.

Zimmer is another do nothing head coach though and we won’t win anything with him.
I don’t want Zimmer either but I do think he’d still be a moderate improvement over Garrett.

In our particular situation, I think it’s much more important that the next head coach have head coaching experience running the show than it is to have NFL coaching but having never run the show.

I also think the next coach has to be a successful defensive guy or bring one with him.

It’s got to be Rhule.

I heard the dude does not want to uproot his family again. He’s not going anywhere but Dallas or Baylor.

He’s turned two mediocre programs around. He’s Belicheks family tree. He’s the future.

I think you might be right one this

We don't need no steenkin' college coaches. Jimmy Johnson was once in a lifetime.
We need a former Cowboy player like Witten Aikman Romo Dez........
He could've had Sean Payton but as usual, Jerry was late to the party.......

What we know:

Rivera is gone. Rhule is the Giants top choice now. A top recruit left Oklahoma. Urban Meyer to Dallas chatter is really low. McCarthy is with the NYG today. McDaniels is talking to people on 1/10. Jason Garrett is still in Dallas in an unknown capacity. DLaw celebrated getting eliminated from contention with customized scooters. Jaylon Smith is very blessed (just ask him). No contract talk for Dak or Amari. 22 potential FA decisions need to be made..Greg Roman chatter picking up across the league. Dabo is the best coach in college football and no one seems to talk about him. Jerry and Stephen were in Aspen on a holiday.

No cause for the fan base to be concerned at all. Nothing to see here.

I just can't get excited about Josh McDaniels. 11-17 record as a head coach. It seems like everyone who comes from Belichick's system doesn't do well on their own. Charlie Weiss, Romeo Crennel, McDaniels first stint as hc, and also Patricia is struggling in Detroit.

Here is what I think is going through Jerry’s mind

Urban Meyer
Bob Stoops
Lincoln Riley
Rhule
Greg Roman

I think he’d take any of these 5 in this order with maybe Stoops below Riley. I throw him in because I think he still has something, is older And Jerry likes him. I don’t think Jerry cares about the next Landry now. He needs a SB quick. Meyer is cocky and despite health can get guys to win in a 2-3 year window

Please not Stoops or Riley. Please, please, please...

Stoops will be a really tough sell. Riley proved he is not ready.

NFL.com is reporting that McDaniels wants Bilicheck style control..that he wants to bring some of the Patriots office staff with him and instill his own "Patriot Way".

Why Vegas has him leading as the next candidate blows my mind. I would like for Dallas to stay as far away from him as possible.
Dallas will NEVER EVER give a HC that kinda say so and control. Urban Meyer would be my go to.

Dark horse candidate.

We can reap the benefits of the Browns investment in him.

That’s a really really low bar

the spit I spat out yesterday would be “a moderate improvement over Garrett “ so that should not be the criteria for a new HC
