How can you teach guys how to block? You are either willing or not.
It's not Witten's job to coach guys. What killed us in 2018 was the inability to throw outside prior to getting Cooper. Both Beasley and Jarwin struggled because defenses clogged the middle of the field knowing we couldn't burn them for it on the outside. Two huge games by Cooper changed that and the middle of the field finally opened back up. Both Beasley and Jarwin started showing up on the stat line after that.

Wasn't more complicated than that.

I'm a Witten guy. In my office/man cave, I sit back and look every day at the picture of him on my wall helmetless, but still running against the Eagles. Love the man.

But he's outworn his welcome, only because he's close to Garrett and the Joneses. We have two extremely athletic TE's on this roster that we've hardly seen much of because we are loyal to a fault to Witten. It's time.

Are you ignoring the fact that this OC didnt run in the redzone? What this team built its offense around?

Dd you know that 6 our of Dallas 8 wins came with Elliot running over 100? The lone loss when he got 100 was vs the jets.

When you have incompetent coaching you get what got this yr. Nobody could stop Dallas from the 20 to the 20. Dallas rode Elliot from the 20-20 but when it got in the redzone Moore tried to get cute. We saw this over and over again.

Then why didn't the players change the play on the line? The offense failed..period. They couldn't get it done when it mattered. Yes, the coaching was inept, incompetent, and stubbornly arrogant, but the players did nothing either. What, would the coaches have really benched the starters if the starts changed things and it worked? Right. No, this entire team failed. There are no excuses. There are no passes. They failed as an entire team. There are no buts. There are no what ifs. They didn't get it done. PERIOD.

lol Kmet is under the radar because you dont know who he is?

What has Jarwin done to say he is budding star? He had all of 2018 to prove it. Swaim went down and Jarwin didnt light anything on fire.

you take out 4 of Jarwins catches and he has 261 yrds on 37 catches

1 catch vs wash for 22
1 catch for 42 vs giants 42
2 catches vs rams for 40

Thats a 7yrd per catch avg

Witten was at 8yrd per avg.

This stat shows you just how ineffective Jarwin really is.

“Hey guyz, lool....when I remove these numbers I can arbitrarily make the statistics say what I want.”

Jarwin had 1 game in 2018 and that was vs NY in the finale. Jarwin started 8 games

in the 8 starts with Cooper he had 265 yrds thats 33yrds per game

You take out the final game
he avg 20yrds over 7games he started

Jarwin is just another guy on the team.

Actually, if you're a player on a team, you have a duty to the team to do everything you can to make the team better...that includes helping in any way that you can....which means teaching guys. It's a team game, not an individual accomplishment game.

Wrong. Teams replace TE's all the time. Blake Jarwin needs to stay, work on his blocking. Otherwise, They got something there.

Ask Steven Young and Aaron Rogers how much coaching they got from Joe Montana and Brett Farve.

I read all over this forum about Witten and how he's holding Jarwin back. But to be honest Jarwin is a nice compliment, but shouldnt be nowhere near a starter. He is unusable in the running game. And we know this because Dallas was a strictly inside run team in 2018. Why because the TEs couldnt block the outside.

And it doesnt limit the handicap only to the run game. Theres a reason Dak was sacked at a record pace in 2018 because TEs couldnt help in pass blocking either. It was horrible.

Jarwin is a nice guy to go out and run a seam or a out to the sideline and get forgotten about by the defense because he's not a threat. That would work for the team if he comes in, in situations but if he's a starter then he's not getting them suprise the defense situations.

This team needs a complete TE, theres a reason Dallas wanted Geodert with Witten moving to the booth.

As much as Witten declined with age, Jarwin isnt half the TE Witten is. Jarwin is a guy you bring in, in situations. Not a guy you depend on regularly.

IMO Cole Kmet is just what this team needs. And picking him at 17 would be a great for this team. I see needs on defense but this defense needs veteran leadership. They have plenty of young talent who arent ready to be leaders. The offense is full of vet leaders. With the cap this team has, go and pluck a couple of vets in FA for this defense that are able to lead on the field.

Ignoring the loss of Witten would be a huge mistake as Dak found out in 2018 when im sure plenty of Monday mornings he woke up sore from the beating he took on sunday.

I'm not sure if you're serious or just trolling, in which case it doesn't really matter. You're lost in the forest, staring at a tree.

It's not just that, it's knowing when to do it and what to look for. That can be taught. Technique can be taught. Or...I dunno, go with an offense where TE isn't so critical...especially if you're dumping Garrett's predictable playbook.
Use the talent you. Try the Belicheat way! It works pretty well.

If Dallas is crippled without Witten next season then they are worse off than I thought. Jason is a hindrance at this point, makes an occasional play but lacking everywhere else. His blocking is okay but not what it used to be. Hopefully, the new HC will want a play making TE.

Get rid of all the Jason's. If it not an opportunity to score Witten is a 260 lbs catch the ball and fall TE. Meanwhile, Jarwin is making explosive plays in the passing game.

Witten wasn't the best of blockers this season. Either way he gots ta go... slowing the team down.

Yet without him, we made the playoffs and one a game last year.

Witten cripples this offense and cripples the development of any player behind me. He's a black hole and useless. You have been brainwashed into thinking we can't survive without him. Any TE with a pulse can do what he does these days.He piles up catches because the defenses don't even bother covering him. They know he can't run routes past 5 yards and after he catches it, he's looking to go down rather than make something happen. Literally no other play has gotten a legit shot to be a starter without him in front of them outside of one season. Give Jarwin a legit shot to grow as a TE in this offense and you will see progress. No progress will ever happen with Witten here. Good riddance to him.

People have rose colored glasses when it comes to Witten. They keep thinking he's the guy he was in his prime. He's not anywhere close to that. He embodies what is wrong with the makeup of this franchise. No accountability at all. Comes out of retirement and has limited skills and comes in and goes right back to his starting role. Puke.
