I
I disagree. He ultimately has to 'answer' to every Cowboys fan. They pay the bills and make this thing run. They pay him.

He could try. And all he would accomplish is destroying any remaining credibility he still has.

Then we're screwed. No team has ever or could ever conduct a series of interviews and ultimately keep the former coach. Know what? Because it's a ridiculous embarrassment, and confirmation of dysfunction and failure from those running that team.

Few respected Garrett going into this year, after the Cowboys unofficially tried to hire a replacement, but instead allowed him to come back. If they tried to do it officially? Everyone would check out. Especially those bill-paying fans. Starting with this one. If Garrett comes back as head coach, I won't.

I think it would hurt their money.... that is the sole reason why they probably will not bring Garrett back. But they are keeping the option on the table. You know as well as I that if there was anyway they could sell it to the fan base they would do it.

Will the Cowboys make money in 2020 if Garrett is the head coach? Yes.

Does Jerry bow down to what the fans want? No

If Garrett is brought back will Jerry Jones go broke? No

Can Jerry afford a financial hit? Yes

Can Jerry take his money with when he passes? No

What is more important to Jerry? Doing things his way or the right way? His way.... See firing Jimmy and hiring Switzer in his place.

When you factor all this in this is why they are still considering it. This is why they have not yet moved on. This is why their has been no announcement yet. This is why their has been no official statement. Even if Jerry & Stephen have decided not to hold an official press conference there still would be no reason why Garrett would not at least announce on twitter or wherever that he will not be back. Why has that not happened?

Seriously. The picture Jay Glazer paints is not a good look for Garrett.
I didn't see that but this is reminds me of when Dez left..

Jason really thought he had a gig for life............because of his daddy not him.

According to who?

According to all the sources that say that Garrett is still trying to keep his job. 3 days of talks. If Jerry was saying firmly NO than it would not involve all these meeting and discussions. It would not involve Garrett begging for his job unless Jerry was either encouraging it because they were actually considering it OR he is just paying Garrett lip service.

Do you think he is just leading Garrett on?

My point it is takes two to tango.

I'll tell you why. It's because this team under the Joneses is dysfunctional. They'd rather let this farce carry on than to actually be honest and admit the obvious. They're firing their head coach but can't actually admit that. He's not coming back. He can't come back. He won't come back. Not as head coach. No one can sell that turd, not even Jerry Jones. And even he knows that.

What's sickening is that they can't even provide a straight answer and admit the obvious.

Haven't heard from Jerry in a week. Must be a record.

I agree with you. Jerry is dysfunctional. But it still would not explain why Garrett would not say I am not coming back. Instead telling his coaches this wait and see deal. Garrett could get out in front of this and protect his pride and name and say I am not coming back. Instead the reports are he is begging to stay. Meanwhile all the other coaching vacancies are getting filled.

Maybe Garrett comes back as VP of operations or whatever? But all the tea leaves suggest that Garrett still has a shot at being head coach.... which is really all he wants.

I'd hate to think the situation has devolved to this level. Garrett would be making himself difficult to hire for other organizations. This sounds like rubber truck stuff.

Would anyone still buy it?? Seriously? Is Jerry still capable of that? Can’t say he isn’t!
No. The vast majority of this fanbase wants Garrett out. If he comes back, many would check out for the 2020 season. We are never winning anything with him, so get rid of him.

Garrett has always been a big fraud and this totally proves it. I just hope he doesn’t go postal and start shooting up the star or something. Sounds likes he lost it.

Umm Glazer said Jerry told him they were moving on from him and Garrett is just acting like a girlfriend that refuses to accept it....

I feel bad anytime someone loses his job. But that being said I think Dallas has underachieved a LOT. Hopefully Jerry will not hire a puppet. Hopefully the coaching improves and does not get worse.
