Which available coaches out there (rumored or not) would bring the clout necessary to push Jerry out

...of the coaching equation in every way?

In other words, who would be able to achieve what Troy Aikman said last week needs to happen--a return to the days of a strong head coach who had little to no interference from Jerry where it concerned the accountability of the coaching staff and the players to the head coach?

(I'm interested in others' perceptions, and/but will weigh-in later if I see someone hasn't been mentioned.)

I'd count three, although I have doubts that most of them are even available or interested.

  1. Urban Meyer
  2. Sean Payton
  3. Bill Belichick
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. But I am giddy right now, so there's that!

2 and 3 are not puppets so they are out. like you I am just happy, Jerry firing Jason on play off week end as Philly plays, he deserves every bit of the suffering and a lot more.

Well Troy is living in a fantasy world. Jerry is 80 or close to it, he's not changing. That's just the reality. He's the owner at the end of the day, so him have little or no interference. I don't see that happening. He has his kids in the business, decisions will be made amongst them and of course Jerry. Just the way it is, hopefully we win in spite of it

I've missed it if this is common knowledge... I know Payton isn't available... but is Belichick's contract in NE up?

(Humor me/us for the purpose of this thread, even if you are convinced Jerry will never hire another Bill Parcells status kind-of head coach. That he did do it once, at least, gives some glimmer of hope.)

Well McCarthy is in Dallas for 2nd visit and they just announced GJ fired...so I'm sure McCarthy is hired

I'm on record that any coach with a SB win on his resume' probably qualifies.

This has been the thing--Jerry has almost never hired anyone with a Super Bowl ring. He's felt obliged to impose his will largely because his head coach had as many titles from coaching as he did... zero.

Push Jerry out?

I guess if they hired Jeff Bezos as coach that might happen.

I honestly think that if hiring Bill Belichick guaranteed Jerry three Super Bowl wins, but Jerry had to give Bill full control , Jerry would not hire him simply because of his ego. That ego problem has forever tarnished this team and took it from being the class of the NFL to being the Jerry Springer Show of the league. Jerry can’t realize how obvious if a problem that his ego has been. He thinks he is fooling people.
