Reckless and impulsive hire IMO. We should've at least tried to get Meyer, Riley, or Roman here. At least Riley or Meyer as an OC to prevent a bad NFL "learning curve". McCarthy is an upgrade. But by how much? And is he better than the coaches I listed? Was he really that good to the point where we didn't need to interview anyone else or give another candidate a chance?

Really don't know how you can argue with this. Both had/have stellar QB's and only won 1 Super Bowl.

Perfect comparison and everyone loves Peyton!

The usual haters are out in force. They’ve been waiting at the keyboard for days for the new head coach announcement. No matter who it was.

If I wanted to be a bit Machiavellian, I would argue this hire (experienced former NFL HC) is a complete repudiation of the Jason Garrett hire.

I’m not one to really trust anything Stephen A. Smith says when it comes to the Cowboys. I think he knows McCarthy is far better than Garrett based on meritocracy at least, not to mention playoff record and a SB win, and that annoys a Cowboy hater like him.

Same here. Everyone wanted some flashy new toy as usual. Everyone also thinks they know everything going on behind the scenes. My guess is this is who Jerry had in mind all along. The good news is he's going to have a very short leash. If he sucks, Jerry won't hesiwto boot him.

He's here now. Get behind it or get out.

It very well could be. I also don’t think the pool of HC candidates is as broad as we think it is.

The Cowboys embarrassed their franchise with this hire and did nothing to get their fan base excited again.

They just did the NFL a solid by bringing back one of their good ole boys.

Not only that but this. Every single guy on that show is a blowhard who were saying all kinds of trash before Garrett was fired. That show is a joke. All of them are FOS. It's not a sexy hire but honestly, Lincoln Riley wasn't turning this around in a year or two. Same with some others.
