Hmm. Don’t know much about him. Anyone know what kind of defense he runs and how he is? Is he a tough type? Interesting hire.

I understand, but you knew the hoodie wasn't coming here. I wish, but knew that was a pipe dream.
its got nothing to do with belichick. Im just not sure the results will be much different then what we got with JG.

Just feel Jerry had a chance to get a better coach.

Just think of the DL talent we've missed on draft days deferring to Marinelli

I have thought about it and it's depressing.

Do you remember the instant impact Travis Frederick had replacing Phil Costa? Suddenly Tony Romo had a pocket to work from. We'd see a similar immediate impact with a real NT. It would make the entire defense better.

It has nothing to do with future success but he has coached some incredible players.

Lawrence Taylor, Michael Strahan in NY
Karl Mecklenburg in Denver
Darrell Green, Champ bailey in washington
Brian Cox, John Abraham at the NY Jets
Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs in Baltimore
Julian Peterson, Patrick Willis in SF
elvis Dumervil in Denver
Cameron Wake & Jason Taylor in Miami
John Abraham and Osi Umenyiora in Atlanta

he has been around some really talented guys. He has also has had greg Manusky and Jim Thomsula work for him when he has been a coordinator before and I think both were let go in washington..could be wrong on that. John Pagano also who is just an outside linebackers coach in houston.

He has such a long career and such a vast group of coaches and schemes he has coached in that he should be able to build a great defensive staff.

I read an article where it said Nolan's defense always had that massive body in the middle of the line. It was an old article, however, still encouraging.

Massive bodies, yes. But don't expect them to go after one super high IMO

I don't know much about him. What do you know? Spill it, please. I need more insight. Why is he even a decent position coach? Where did he make a significant impact?

I'd say he's a decent position coach because a lot of respected NFL minds hold him in high regard, but I'm not 100% certain he is. Just willing to acknowledge it. But as a coordinator, we can look at statistics. His last stop in Atlanta, 2012-2014 he they ranked 5th in his first year and 27th the final two seasons. In Miami , 2010-2011, he was okay, ranking 14th his first year and 6th his second. In Denver in 2009, they were 12th.

These are all YPG rankings, not PPG and I didn't look at turnovers. I just remember a lot of "meh" with him. That's all
