Would you interview just two people for your job?

So you don't have anything with an actual quote from someone with the giants. It's funny hot ha ha funny, that when googling that I came across a single thing from an "insider" that means in other words he was SPECULATING because he didn't quote anyone from the giants either.
.

Ouch! Proofreading is your friend. What's wrong with speculating on speculation? That's what over half the conversations in here involve, Sparky.

Yes we speculate often and it's up to each of us to buy into it. The problem is when these "insiders" speculate too many here take it like it's some kind of fact because an "insider" said it. Too many here don't get that these "insiders" say things often just to get clicks which helps their pay. That's why until I hear it or read it directly from the source of the issue I don't believe it. All to often these "insiders" have said or published things that weren't true or only partially true and end up having a completely different meaning.

I thought about including this in one of the multiple threads on the new hire, but feel it would just get lost and ignored. But I'd like to present this question, if you were hiring for a job, any job, much less the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Would you interview just two people and then call it a day?

I honestly don't think this was a spur of the moment hiring. Jerry gave Garrett every opportunity to keep his job but all the while he was doing his homework on possible candidates.

I think, and this is JMO, that Jerry has been looking at all options since last year ended and probably had already selected his targets. This came together way to quickly to be a coincidence...

And really it was just one. Lewis was a token interview to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

I'm not sure when Jones started doing his research but I seriously doubt it he started after the season ended. I think he did his research in case what happened did happen and the Cowboys didn't make it deep into the playoffs.

You may very well be right, that's why l said it was JMO. But this came together way too quick and it was obviously already decided McCarthy was going to be able to hire his own staff. That was not agreed to overnight...

I have hired and fired hundreds of people over the past 30 years. Sometimes I have interviewed vast amounts of people for a position. Other times just one or two.

Most of the time I interviewed many people it was because no one seemed to fit. Other times I knew I had better grab the good candidate or someone else would. If you know someone is going to be a great hire you pull the trigger.

If the Hoodie was interviewing for the job would you need to interview anyone else?

I'm not sure. If this was part of a 'big plan', it doesn't explain how McCarthy had four interviews prior to this one?

Of course not, but he's the Hoodie, the exception, the greatest coach in league history.

The Cowboys embarrassed the franchise over the past week.

They needed a high profile coach brought in here for many different reason and instead the brought in a offensive coach who was fired because of how bad his offensive scheme were.
Dumb!!! McCarthy has a good offensive scheme/system.

When you have already did your homework, yes it is possible, very possible. As a matter of fact and please correct me if I’m wrong, but that is the case for every head coach hired so far this year.

At my institution it is standard practice is to bring in at least three people to interview for a position, and we take a lot more than 1 to 2 weeks to review their credentials. And nobody gets to spend the night in the president’s house.

Well, Mike McCarthy is one of the few people walking the planet who has won a Super Bowl as a HC! I like the hire.

The year GB won the Super Bowl McCarthy did an amazing job. They were as banged up, probably more so, than the year, Philly won the Super Bowl.

I can respect your opinion. It’s just that after 25 years for me it takes more than the initial burst of enthusiasm over a new hire to think that this guy is the solution to our problems. While Jerry Jones still sucks air , I’ll have to see it to believe it

Four with other teams. I think he interviewed with the Panthers, Browns, and Giants (maybe twice?)

No, I know the Giants interviewed several before Judge, and I believe the Panthers did as well before Rhule. Washington however may have hired Rivera without interviewing anyone else, but then again who would want to emulate their track record?
