As much as I love the Cowboys and the 90's Cowboys, I don't think Jimmy is deserving of being in the HOF.
His career was not long enough to establish that he was worthy of that honor.
He definitely deserves to be in the Cowboys Ring of Honor but not the HOF
Most idiotic thread/post of the year.

He won 2 Super Bowls in 5 years.

Landry won 2 Super Bowls in 29 years.

Winning Super Bowls is the goal. Everything else is runner up achievements.

respectfully disagree...the man built a dynasty and could...no should have won even more super bowls and games if it wasn’t for an insecure, petty owner who couldn’t handle someone else getting more credit than him.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.......................................

Terrell Davis had a short career and he's in the HOF. So what's the difference?

Yep winning Super Bowls can propel you like that. Look at Eli. Would anyone in their right minds consider him for the HOF without those rings? Nope. But he won those and now he will be in the talks. That's how it goes.

To be fair, he always was a borderline guy and was considered accordingly... he had to wait 20 years and it took a special event to get him in. It’s not like they put him in at the expense of anyone else either. There will always be borderline guys and sometimes it takes a little time to pass to put everything in perspective. Ultimately they put him in so I’m sure he’s fine with it, cause once you’re in you’re just a HOFer. There’s no titles like First Ballot or Borderline.

You have ir exactly backwards.

Winning 2 championships in 5 years is amazing. And Barry's was his, too, as everybody knows.

It didn't take him forever like Cowher or Dungy. Andy Reid is still trying.

I really don’t think he is borderline. His contributions go beyond just winning. His draft value chart was something that was adopted by most of the league. He reportedly is constantly being visited by coaches who want to pick his brain - including Belichick. This was a long time coming.

It's called the Hall of Fame. Not the Hall of Records or the Hall of Longevity.
You can't think of NFL history and not consider Jimmy Johnson and what he did to build a dynasty and win back-to-back Super Bowls.

I am a Season Ticket holder and a well known Cowboys homer amongst my friends and family.
What Jimmy did with the Cowboys was astonishing but his coaching career was too short to say he was truly a HOF coach.
His post Cowboys career was average. It would've been interesting to see how he handled Free Agency as the Cowboys coach because that really would've shown how great a coach he really was. I think he would've been successful but we'll never know.
I don't think Cowart and Dungy are deserving either. But they their longevity and ability to sustain successful teams for longer gives them some credibility
I think all three benefited from being on TV post career to give them more exposure.
I don't think Tom Coughlin is a HOF coach either but given that Jimmy and Cowart got in, I'm sure he will be a shoe in now.
I understand everyone's affection for JJ because I too share it. I just think the HOF should be reserved for Coaches and players who show exceptionalism over a long time.
