LOL. I am glad you remember. it was comical. his argument that Kellen Moore is better than Romo and Kellen Moore is HOF type QB....

this guy just wants attention. he always always always always picks a topic he knows is not going to change for a while. and he argues it to no end to get a response....he just likes negative attention.

I can help you with that.

Cam Newton is going to be available. He would be amazing in Dallas.
I'd rather see Dallas get Cam than pay big money for Dak.
  • Case Keenum is available. He led the Vikings to the NFC Championship game. He is a better deal than Dak.
  • Marcus Mariota will be available. He would be better.
  • Tom Brady will probably be available.
And more.
As I said, I will back Dak if they sign him.
But there are much better options.

Lol, what a joke.

Ok I see how this works now. That is only an excuse for losses for other QB’s. Gotcha!
Na. I watched them closely this season and Mariota was playing well.
But after some close losses, a change was made.
I don't blame Vrabel, but he'd tell you himself that Mariota was playing well.

Mariota wasn't benched only because of this season. The reason they hired Tannehill rather than a lower priced backup is because there was concern with Mariota.

You have to look at Mariota's best season and Dak's worst to find any point of comparison over their careers. Otherwise Mariota has fallen well short.

I dont get the Keenum hate.

He's nothing special, he's not elite, but he is a serviceable NFL starter and has shown that on multiple teams.

I suspect that his name hits a raw nerve with Dak supporters.

Yes, he's so good that he's been on 5 teams in 7 years
Wasnt retained even after leading a team to the NFL Championship
Wasnt retained in Denver (one of the most QB needy teams in the NFL) after a near 1:1 TD/INT ratio
Benched in Washington multiple times even after it was apparent Haskins was nowhere near ready to start an NFL game.

He's a bridge-builder, like Ryan Fitzpatrick. Will never be anything more.

What?
Oh, you mean post facts and common sense that doesn't agree with your idiotic agendas?
You'd rather see the Cowboys invest millions in a proven choke artist than take the same money and get a real quarterback?
Yeah, sounds like you.

Agree.

But if someone believes Dak wont get any better and rise his game to elite level or is not worth the money he's looking for, then signing a cheap bridge builder QB while a 1st round pick learns the ropes is a sensible course of action.

To sign a "cheap bridge builder" is taking enormous risks. First, you have to assume that somewhere you'll find that magical QB in the draft or trade.

Think someone like a Carson Palmer, who went from team to team (with not good results) or Kurt Warner (with good results for the Cards, not so good with the Giants).

These are incredibly hard calls when you're sitting on the NFL's leading passer who misses some downfield throws and has a couple more INTs than we'd like. I don't think that's a strategy.

That said, I'm all for drafting a QB in an early round just to see, but unless you have a Manning or a Luck who is clearly available, this strat strikes me as risky as hell.

The problem is there are more Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert types that get picked in the 1st round than Pat Mahomes types, and obviously the odds of getting a Pat Mahomes are even further reduced by picking in the 17th spot in the draft order. Bottom line is the team may not have a Rodgers or Mahomes or Wilson, or a Brees or Brady in their prime, but he is a quality QB, and doing what you suggest could potentially kill the team's chances both in the coming season, and for seasons to come.

Strike rate has been good the past 3 years - approx 1 in 3 NFL starting QBs are from these drafts.

But, what if you believe that you've upgraded the offense sooo much (OL, WR, RB) that it will never be better than 8-8 without a QB upgrade? Risk and reward go together.

The upside to what I see going on within the organization is MM hiring his own staff and formulating his own scheme. This process leads to MM owning up to his personal pick for the QB. If Dak is the one to run his offense then MM has to own up to it at the end of the day.

Agreed, but Mariota didn't have the offensive line that Dak has had. He's been harassed and sacked regularly but still made plays.
As I have said- and anyone being honest would admit- if Dak had played for any team other than the Cowboys he would have already been scrapped by now.
No other quarterback has had the protection that Dak has been afforded.
Yet still, he chokes.
