Signed by Cowboys Rob Davis hired as coaching assistant *Merge*

this is a perplexing hire but hey MM knows whet he wants he had year to reflect and a plan is being unveiled..

Probably been discussed but this sounds like a guy McCarthy likes and wanted on his staff as sort of his right hand man. He needed a title but its completely meaningless. Sounds like he will do whatever McCarthy asked him but will certainly be involved in changing the culture surrounding the team. Hopefully, he’s a buttkicker who can help knock the softness and mental weakness out of the players.

McCarthy: Gentlemen, welcome to the Dallas Cowboys. What I want to go over today is our expectations as a staff.
:lmao:

Davis is a fixer/babysitter. Player gets into a drunken argument with his girlfriend in public....Davis makes the story go away. Players smokin dem TWEEDS lol, that story never gets written either. He's good at it too.
Professional baby sitter?

After reading a little more, it sounds like McCarthy wanted someone he trusts as another advocate on his side in the room when player evaluation is going on. Another voice for what McCarthy wants during free agency and the draft. The only thing that bugs me is this could lead to McClay leaving or being forced out if Davis gets too much power in the process.

Doubt that would happen. Probably had it worked out ahead of time.

Hopefully Rob Davis is better for the Cowboys than MMs former Assistant Head Coach Winston Moss. Hung around for years and was not productive.

See,...Davis is a fireman of sorts, even says so in one of the Bio's posted. He puts out FIRES like I said. Oh well,..........least he doesnt paint houses. Then some o those players would REALLY have something to worry about! ;)

I still think the McCarthy hiring has been planned for quite a while and Jerry had him waiting in the wings with a plan.
I AGREE..It seems MM and his plan was in the QUE if you will, for a while. Jerry likely had contact with him even before the season began, truth be told. We won't ever know...but thats my suspicion. Coach waiting in the wings. Look at this new staff, my GAWD...its loaded with creativity, experience, winners and I call it "spicy." lol ..AND THATS A GOOD THING.

It certainly is intriguing.

All the kidding aside, even tho the title seems a little weird - I am gonna give the benefit of the doubt to MM on this one.
Think, Jerry and Stephen had to have signed off on this. They pay the salary.
So far, from everything I've read, Davis seems to be the Culture changer. An extension of MM, and seeing how late he was hired, I'll assume MM has looked around the locker room and decided that a culture change is very much needed.
Go get em boys ...

Just think. We're just one Mike McCarthy health issue away from Head Coach Rob Davis.

I feel good about it.
thats not how it works Jerry and Stephen would appoint the next most qualified, id imagine thats Nolan short term interim..
