He won’t accept 31 a year. His agent is asking for to much and wants a short term deal. He will have Dak holding out if they try to tag him.

Offer goff money on a 4 year deal with. 3 year out. Give him a fat signing bonus and the guaranteed money and go play ball.

I would offer him a longer term deal if he will sign it. At sone point he will quit gambling on himself.

Dak is not going to lay his cards down until he has to. I think Dak and the Cowboys come to a contract agreement before the March 10 deadline of franchise tags. When question by a reporter on ESPN and asked about what he turned down he said people look at the number not the details that go into it. How the contract is structured will have much to do with it more so than what the avg of the contract is.

Problem with these type of negotiations is the problem that Jerry always had. Like Zeke.............there is NO ONE of consequence behind Dak. Without Dak our season and team completely falls apart.

Jerry does this by design actually, like he did with Aikman. DIDNT want them to feel uncomfortable or make waves. BUT thats EXACTLY what you need to do. And it helps you in contract negotiations.

Should have let Zeke hold out and let Pollard tear it up those first 3 games.

If we got lucky and TUA fell to us at 17, I would have NO problem with the Cowboys drafting him. Position is too important to pass on franchise type QB's.

Heck no...Romo 2.0. Good QB that is never available because he is hurt.

Dak will show up and he will play. If he doesn't, one of the backups will come out and show that any half-competent QB can win games in this offense and then Dak loses all leverage at anything long-term. That's why, if you noticed, Dak never comes out of games regardless of how injured he might be or how much we are winning/losing. Doesn't want anyone else to show they might be similar or even better.

It's the same thing we should've done with Zeke. Hopefully Jerry realizes the mistake.

We knew this was coming .

Dak is worth 28-30 million , and is asking for 40 million . He will hold out, he saw what Zeke did .

Sitting in the open market he won't get a single sniff of what his supposed contract demands are.

He'll settle to be the interim QB for a team like the Dolphins for $20 mil. In two years after mediocre 8-8, 7-9 seasons the Cowboys can sign him to be an 'experienced' backup.

You can't seriously believe this statement, that was for drama right?

Hell, what you expect him to say. Think about it, if he commits to showing up on the tag, he's basically saying he's OK with it. IMO this statement nothing to do with whether not he'd sit out. Right now it's all nego talk IMO ........

I've seen this kind of argument before, but realistically, how many teams have a backup QB that is actually very close to the starter in talent? Fans act like that's how it works with other teams, but it really doesn't. That's not to say that a lot of teams don't have a backup that is better than Rush, but it's rare for them to have a backup they would feel good about stepping in as the full time starter. There aren't even enough QBs at that level to cover the starting position for all 32 teams, much less both the starter and backup for all 32 teams.
