I said that two years ago and these geniuses here said he’d lower his value. A year later and 30 TDS later now everyone wants him to take a bargain. Should’ve signed him before Wentz and Goff.
I think they could have gotten him 2 years ago before wentz contract for 30. Now it’s gonna be 35 if we are lucky. Now if he wants 40 then I am letting him walk. He isn’t mahomes.

Why wouldn’t a player want the most they can get? Fans need to realize it’s a business with a very short shelf life, you need to earn what you can when you can.

Sounds like his agent is doing exactly what he should be doing.

Every player should get absolutely the most they can, but every player has to also realize the other side is going to offer as little as possible to sign them and it ultimately comes down to what the team thinks the player is worth and whether or not the team is willing to pay it and at this point it doesn't seem the team is willing to pay Dak what he and his team think he is worth

We don't know where the sticking points are though.

It could be they are offering what he wants per year, but not enough years. Or it could be they are offering the years he wants, but not enough of an increase to stay inline with projected league-wide salary increases.

There could also be other details that are sticking points.

I am not on either side, but since we really don't know where the issues are, it's hard to say which side is being more fair or more unreasonable.

If they do not sign him to a new contract though, i hope they go into the draft assuming he won't be on the team long term so they can draft another potential starting quarterback rather than do what they have done in the past and assume it will all get worked out, until it doesn't.

+1........IF this thing comes down to tagging him, there may be more damage than we as fans realize. Honestly, I can say for the first time, I'm not sure a long-term deal gets if he's tagged.

I agree.

I have been suggesting Dak is not exactly everything he pretends he is for some weeks.

Been getting a lot of grief over it.

As time goes on, more and more apparent facts appear.

This is going to open all our eyes about what Dak is about.
As you should. What are these “more and more facts” that override 4 years of evidence to his character? At worst, he values money? *gasp*

The franchise tag designation period is between Feb 25th and Mar 10th.
Doubt anything happens until then.

We'll see....

I think the Cowboys are being quite reasonable. Dak’s agent is being ridiculous and unfortunately is inflating Daks head in the process.

why would he possibly be anywhere near the highest paid QB ever?

Id like to think it’s not Dak, but I’m not entirely sure. How can he be about winning when the contract he wants will prevent building a winning team.

I feel I was so wrong about Daks character. It’s just sad.

I've felt that way for some time now. I suspect his agent is telling him all the good things he wants to hear and he's eating it up. Stephen has his hands full trying to convince him to be reasonable, so it appears. Here's hoping they'll manage to get together on a reasonable deal that both sides can live with and leave something for the rest of the team to get theirs as well.

To be fair his agent has 1 job and it's to get Dak as much money as he can. That's it, it's not building a SB team, or any such thing that is what Jerry and Stephen should be doing.

Daks agent is doing his job . Its not his fault Jerrys ego and loyalty to Garrett wasted Dak rookie contract . His agent is trying to get the most for Dak thats what he is supposed to do . Sign him to the Non Exclusive if he wont take a reasonable offer .

If somebody wants to pay him 40 mil and give us 2 1st rounders even we couldnt screw that up and not improve the team . Who needs a QB that bad . BigBen and Rivers a nearing 40. Colts??? Skins?? Who is that bad off at QB to sacrifice 2 first round picks ???
Patriots?

Show me the QB that has "character" to take less to build a winning team.

Character has nothing to do with these salary dealings on either side, it's all about money, that's all the NFL and anyone in it is about.

Brady took less, but his wife was making a ton of money at the time. Not as if Dak has a money pot wife ATM.

Because if you pay one player too much, it keeps you from super bowl contention. Maybe fans need to realize that overpaying leads to mediocrity.

Brady took less or get traded and Kraft hinted at that when he said "Tom didn't have much of a choice". If he didn't have a high earning wife, don't know which he would have selected. Might have been him in SF instead of Garoppolo.

Some feel the cap will just keep rising to take care of everything.
