The Cowboys roster on offense is similar to San Fran's.. That Shanahan system is actually perfect for our personel.

The balance between the run and pass is what we have been trying to achieve and the way they scheme things just creates natural running lanes and the Shanahans do this with just about any team they have.

Now they have added that sweep with the WR and I would think that would be a new staple for all teams. The Debo samuel play. Dallas needs to make that play a priority in the offseason. (I think we may have done it a few times this year)

I know Jay Glazer told Jerry we needed a leader of men.. Blah blah.. But if I could have any coach in the league right now for our team it would probably be Shanahan. Zeke would probably set records in that offense.

One of the things I'm most envious of is SF's ability to use a FB on offense effectively, and their ability to consistently generate pressure with only four guys.

Just a nasty, smash mouth football team that we wish we were.

that Seatle defense sure looked like ours last season ,cant get to the qb get burned, so dont turn around and look for the ball etc etc..it bit them in the butt hardcore brother..sure looked familiar.. stop focusing on Offense as ours can be good when its going strong, our iuses were more special teams and coaching with defense and lastly offense..

although we already have a QB that can miss open WRs imperfect play calls and a defense that can give up a 10point lead late in the 4th and end up losing by 11, thats 21 point turn around in under 7mins ..huh we are petty much there..so Shannhan is the coah and they choked..yup thats us in a nuttshell:muttley:

I'm sorry, but I would not touch Kyle Shanahan with a 10 foot pole right now.

Sure, the guy runs the ball a lot more than most, except when trying to close out double digit leads in a SB and directing two of the biggest choke jobs in (at least recent) Super Bowl history.

Obviously Kyle is not the worst HC in the NFL, but it would seem he crumbles when the pressure is on.

Run the ball and hide a mediocre QB.. He can do that.

If you don't like how he manages the end of a Superbowl then fine.

I had to argue about how good of a coach Andy Reid is on this board for years and it was met with posts like this.

So 3 years rebuilding the D-line with 1st round draft picks

Our was Dline not that bad this year.

Those guys could get to the QB very quick.. The problem was that the coverage behind them was super soft.

The 49ers lost the Super Bowl.

If we are going to copy anyone, why not copy the winning team?

Is this a coaching post, or a personnel post?

Shanahan is a young new comer, who kind of bounced around for a few years..before getting a HC gig. He came into a franchise that had a whopping 25 wins over 5 years, which could go in a variety of ways.

They do have a lot of high pick firepower on their dline, which you could say was luck or skill, regarding to how well they hit on those picks.

A few veterans brought in to help out, Sherman and Sanders..coupled with solid Defensive play and a good running game.

Can Dallas replicate that, while still holding their vaunted Oline together?

I was hoping this thread would at least mention their defense but it's offense, offense, offense around here.

The Cowboys haven't shown they can play championship caliber defense in a long time. Until that changes all the offensive tweaks in the world won't get them there.

Not bad, not that good though. We have two finesse linebackers that got eaten by guards this year.
Scheme and talent played a role in that.

For the 2019 line you had D-Law, 2 jags inside and Quinn who is a good 1 trick pony.

3 of the 4 guys are free agents, not including Covington but who cares if he walks. Out of that 3, A. Woods is ERFA or RFA so he's back for another year. But we need a RDE if Quinn walks and a good force inside at DT.
Collins is decent, but I'm not sure he's worth bidding on if a few other teams like him.

Maybe with new voices in the coaches room there will be less of a mindset of finding low ceiling guys that have a strong work ethic that can be coached up and instead spending resources on top talent DT's. Free agency or the draft, I don't care.

Shanahan was the OC when the Falcons gave up a 27-3 lead against the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

And now he just got outscored 21-0 in the last six minutes yesterday.

But he's a good head coach, no doubt. I love the originality of his running game.

Shanahan? Same guy that has now lost 2 4th quarter leads in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl? I’ll pass thanks.

After watching that game last night it occurred to me that the winners of the Super Bowl are the guys who know how to win. Its more important than the roster on paper. Having said that, in the big games, your QB cannot make big mistakes and he has to make plays late. Mahomes played better when it counted. Jimmy G looked like a weakness in the offense.

Im curious what the discussion is today with Lynch. He wanted them to call a TO with well over a minute on the clock before the half. He made a mistake milking it and than hit the pass over the middle.

That's cool.

I am not saying you are wrong, but seeing the collapse last night and the collapse he had as the Atlanta OC in 2016 (with a MVP QB no less), I don't know if the guy is "big time" yet.

And while I am not saying Andy Reid is a bad coach, as he was successful with other QBs, it took him getting a "Generational" type QB (and a complete collapse by the other coach) to finally win a Super Bowl.

I get it, you are hyper focused on the "mediocre QB" angle. But I try to look at the big picture, and FINALLY Dallas has a Real HC. You may not like MM, but IMO, if Dak can't succeed under MM, then the "Dak Haters" were right.

Having said all that, I would take Kyle, Andy or Mike over Garrett a long time ago. At least they bring SOMETHING to the table other than clapping all the dang time.
