Travis Frederick is my favorite player right now. It's a bit harder to root for an oline man since they don't garner stats and highlight like other players.

.

Just b/c a fan might not think Dak is capable of leading a team to the super bowl or worth 20% of the teams salary cap, doesn't mean they "hate" Dak. It means that that particular fan thinks the team will be better off going a different direction. If you interpret that as hate, that says more about your own thin skin than anything else.

Everything we discuss and argue about here is b/c we all love the Dallas Cowboys. It literally doesn't matter who wears the uniform. If Cooper played somewhere else next year, you still rooting for him? Of course not. You root for the next guy who takes his uniform.

There is nothing wrong with fans having opinions on players.
Talking about thin skin.....yikes.

I don't recall saying anything about fans discussing Dak's contract value or salary cap %. Kind of weird.

Maybe instead of being so defensive you could read what I wrote.

I mentioned several players include Jaylon, LVE, T Smith.... You can pretend fans here have not created their message board identity trolling every thread that mentions certain players all season long. I'm just calling it like I see it. Its not about criticism of our players. Its beyond that.

If I were to buy a jersey - which I don't - I would get Gallup.

After a disappointing season and for a while now I have been looking for a player to hang my hat on .

Tired of just rooting for the laundry looking for a real football player to get behind and root for Sure I like Dak and Big Fred . We have players that put up numbers but I see no substance and have not for a while now .
We used to have players that were larger than life that impacted the team and the league, that struck fear in opponents . We have a good Oline but none of the could carry Larry Allens jock

Emmitt and Irvin . Roger , Tony Dorsett , the Manster , Haley , Bob Hayes Bob Lilly Drew Pearson

I compare Captain America throwing to The Fastest Man in the World to Troy throwing to Micheal Irvin then Dak to Im going to tap out or drop the ball at the worst time Cooper or Gallup .

Witten looked like Jackie Smith against the Eagles .

Other than Dak and Jeff Heath these guys just seem SOFT and hard to like , Is it just me or dose anyone else have this feeling

I'm that way with this current group of Cowboys.. I'm not really a big fan of any of them..

My favorite player on the team is Vander Esch.

The rest of the guys like Zeke i'm just cheering for because of the laundry they wear.

Dak used to be easy to cheer for but now that he is going to drastically decrease our odds of winning a Superbowl i'm not as big of a fan.

I like Gallup too I guess... Pollard as well..

The Cowboys in 2019 became one of the softest collection of players in the NFL. When they had sand kicked in their face by teams like Buffalo and the Jets, they just seemed to accept it. Not much fight collectively. There seemed to be little fire in their bellies even when the playoffs were on the line.

Was it coaching? Yes. Garrett should have been fired on the tarmac in Atlanta in 2017 after that ridiculous performance. Garrett was like smelly leftovers in the fridge last year. Rod Marinelli’s defense was the most predictable in the league. So yeah, coaching was awful.

But this owner/GM and his lifetime contract kids running this franchise have coddled and pampered their players as if they were all at a family reunion instead of an NFL roster with accountability. When Jimmy J said a few years ago that this team had no fear of the HC or anyone else was killing the culture, he was dead right. This sugar daddy culture is IMO most responsible for this team being soft.

There are plenty of players I like however. I think Dak is a real leader capable of leading this team to success. Zack Martin is a future HOFer. I really like what I saw in Michael Gallup’s growth last year. Despite his injury problems last year, I still like LVE as a stud LB. And a few others. But none of these guys will be that great until some REAL accountability is brought into this franchise.

I root for the Cowboys. Never for the name on the back of the jerseys.

Myself. I also root for the Texas Longhorns and have done so since the late 60's win or lose, good time and bad I'm behind the Longhorns 100% same holds true for the Cowboys. I don't care if everyone else wants to cheer for the opposing team that has never been a concern of mine. My loyalties are solid behind the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns win, lose or draw.

with different coaching.
Also winning makes a difference.

Well it certainly will not be Rowdy. :lmao:

I understand this too, no one player standouts out enough to say, hey this is the guy I like best.
I always been more partial to the RB's, then WR's more so than the QB's.

Dorsett and Drew, then Emmitt and Michael. But still liked Tony and Emmitt the best. I went nuts when they drafted Emmitt. Told my wife, at the time, the Cowboys will win a few SB's in 3 or 4 years.

Being an Ohio State fan, I felt the same, well almost the same when they drafted Zeke. My enthusiasm tempered by the coaching staff. But with MM and an entire new staff, I feel so much better. As for the WR, I lean to Gallup over Cooper, but right now slightly.

So if I have to pick a player, I will stay with the RB in Zeke. Because he is what makes this offense goes, still. Though Dak will become the face of the franchise, which I have no problem with. I just hope he keeps improving, which I think he will.

Nobody in NFL history and except maybe 1 guy could carry Larry Allen's jock. Tyron Smith is special, Zack Martin is special, Fred Beard is special especially with his story Beard is an easy guy to cheer for. Larry Allen was only on 1 of those Super Bowl teams anyways. None are Larry Allen but Larry Allen is top 2 All Time.
NFL is different today. No players strike fear into the oppenant. These guys play for paychecks today and not so much for the love of the game. To me that's the biggest difference I think you're experiencing.
NFL is a far different league than it used to be. I hate what it has become. The biggest difference is that stats are more important than team success.

bingo.

It's hard but the OL guys are likeable and so is Gallup so far. Dak and Cooper were likeable but now don't really seem to be considering the team as a whole. I'm not a big take a discount guy but I am big on know your true value and don't demand a bigger slice of the pie than you have earned. Both seem to want to be paid like they are top 3 at their position when they are at best top 10 and arguments exist why even that may be a stretch. I think my biggest rooting attraction going forward will be the new coaching staff and the overall success of the team. I could find myself rooting hard for Jordan Lewis because I think he was not treated fairly by the last coaching staff and then hopefully some young defensive guys like Gifford, Jackson, Wilson, Jelks make a jump and become likeable.

Stick with Jeff Heath. That will bring out the true colors of every member on this board.
Or, pick the 1st round rookie, whomever it may be.
