Before anyone takes this and runs with "Dak should take less money too!", know that Cooper has made over 36 mill in salary over his 1st five seasons.

To me, this makes the high contract even worse. Your competition wants to overpay someone, which negatively impacts their team. Instead of letting them do so, you overpay instead, negatively impacting your team.

So, we simultaneously overburden our team with a contract that is too high, while preventing our competition from overburdening their team.

You guys are forgetting the most important factor. No state tax in Texas.

Lol.

Folks. No state tax means you get squeezed in other ways. Texas has higher sales and property taxes to make up for it (and worse education and other public services as a result).

This isn't nearly as important as people like to believe. Game checks are taxed based on the city the game is played in.

Half the regular season is played at home, taxes are still a big deal, plus Washington and Florida have no state income tax, so that's 4 more teams there.

Certainly would be a factor for me...

What an idiot Commanders are Based in Maryland. No personal property tax but some local municipalities have an extra income tax which is a percentage of what you owe the state.

They only play in MD. Everything else is in VA (except the Washington name,) and that's were most of their players live.

I run into Commander players all the time out at bars here in Loudoun County. Especially One Loudoun.

He won't get any endorsements in Dallas he wouldn't get in DC.

We don't know this. It's a fact, and it's been said by many players, Jerry steps in for players and makes sure that they get opportunities to do things like TV spots. Snyder doesn't do that so I don't think we can say that he would see those opportunities in either spot.

Im not sure about the Snyder part, unless you are talking national tv. They have tons of local tv stuff.

It's needless to argue over details of contract and what he lost or gained. The important thing is he wanted to stay with the cowboys and was true to his word.

Being a player on the Cowboys 100% affects endorsement opportunities. Other than RGIII I can't think of a skins player I've seen doing national commercials. They do a bunch of local commercials, like all NFL players, but that's about it. That being said, Coop isn't exactly Mr. Personality. A nice guy for sure, but I don't know how marketable he is, even as a Cowboy.

And the players pay State tax to the states they have road games in. So the player isn't saving the amount of the State tax, in reality he is saving the tax on his home games.

I figured they would. It would have been a big steal. But coop stuck to his guns. No playing in the cold lol
So Cooper does a team friendly deal to stay.

Interesting.

So did he do this to help the team sign Dak?

He gets his pay raise which he deserves after 4 straight Pro Bowls.

But with Cobb and Witten gone, this really puts pressure on Amari.

And does the FO really have a clue about Jarwin at TE? In the past they have drafted TEs trying to replace Witten only to let them walk.

It's strange to me we have not done more to fix the position knowing Witten was leaving.

Puzzling considering how Dak needs short passing help in the WCO.

Hmmm..

I'm talking period. Yeah, there are lots of TV spots but Dan Snyder doesn't steer deals for TV spots towards specific players. I've never ever heard of this. Jerry Jones does and players are on record about this. Jerry definitely takes care of his guys. Snyder pays you but that's it. He doesn't look after his players like Jerry does. I'm very sure about this.

Yes this true that all professional athletes have to pay state income taxes in any state they play in but if they play for a team where there are no state income tax that means that half of those pay checks are free from state income taxes unlike players that play for teams where their state does have state income taxes.
