You can buy a whole lot of Wal Mart free agents in May and June with that kind of cap space. :muttley:

I mean the cowboys still aren’t in cap hell or anywhere close to it. Even if the 28 total space is off a bit.

We don't actually know where we are yet. I mean, you can't tell me that letting Byron walk is a good thing. He's a 1st round pick who is considered a very good DB in the League and we couldn't even come close to keeping him. We lost Quinn as well, who I know we wanted to keep. There are others and this is the beginning. Depth is where cap hell will show up. When we start sustaining injuries, that's when we will know.

The cowboys could have resigned either one. They chose not to for the price.

That isn’t cap hell.

Sign Dak, cut his cap hit to $10 to $15 million, cut Crawford, save $8 million. I am sure there are a few other moves.

The thing is, what can and what will they do with that cap space. They could use part of it to lock up any players becoming FA's in 2021. But they do not need to do it now. They can wait until TC or during the season if a player is playing really well.
I'd be okay getting ahead of things and trying to get Gallup locked up.

Here you go again........now what's not true?

None of it but if it's a here we go again thing, it's cool. Say what you want to any who will listen. I've seen it before, seen posters just like you claim the same. You can't pay the top 7 or 8 guys this percentage of cap and expect to have depth. This is the NFL, depth will show up and when it does, the fan base will be crying about it.

Watch and see.

And why would they do that? The team said they wanted to try and keep Quinn. They couldn't because of the price tag.

they chose not to, because of the price tag. There was no “couldnt” they most certainly could have. Quinn’s cap hit is what? 15 mil this season? The cowboys could have signed him, and still had room for rookie contracts, and not even needed to restructure anyone or cut Tyrone Crawford like they could easily do.

Didn't and couldn't have two different meanings. They didn't because of the price tag, not couldn't. Please stop interchanging them.

There is no difference. They couldn't because they have to sign Dak to a big contract. You have to manage cap and that's not just for this year. It's for years out. No, I don't agree.

Nice, you have a future in teaching small children basic English. You however, need to stick with the small children. Don't for one second think you can teach me something here because you are 100% wrong. Please stay in your lane.

That’s great you don’t agree. But I’m just stating the reality. They 100% could have kept either Jones or Quinn If they really wanted to.

the cap forces every team to make tough decisions on who to pay and who not to pay. It doesn’t mean they’re in “cap hell”

Its here we go again because of your delivery.

How are the Cowboys in cap hell?

You don't gain "depth" by signing guys anyway. You don't sign guys for "Depth". You draft them. You find them as rookie free agents. You want to see how teams find depth?

TmeM5i5.png

These are all undrafted rookie free agents......which team has the most guys on this list? This is from 2018 btw......guess how many of those guys are still on that team during their championship run?

Every...single one of them. So don't give me the excuse about needing cap space to find depth because you don't. Quit giving this front office excuses for why they F up......"cap hell" is a EXCUSE.

Does this reflect what Dak will make under the franchise tag, or is that not included since Dak hasn't yet signed the tag?

Franchise tag charges are placed when the tag is designated, not when signed. So yes, his franchise tag cap charge is included in any current cap calculation.

Your reality. As I said, I've seen this before. Same exact type thing. But instead, we have neither and it's because we could afford it, we just decided not to sign one of the best Defensive DBs in the league, even though we could. We just decided to not sign Quinn, who posted 11.5 sacks in 14 games because we could, we just decide not to, even though we have nobody on the roster who can fill the void. Yeah, OK. I am not buying that no matter how hard somebody is trying to sell it. Truth is, if we had offered a nice contract to Quinn during the season last year, he probably signs it and he's locked up. But because we had all of these issues with contracts upcoming, we didn't do that, even thought that's how the Cowboys operate, oft times.

No, you can't convince me of what you are saying. It's just not the case.
