So you were one of the people that were hyping up his 5 sacks huh?

I was one of those down on DLaws performance after getting paid. He played 16 games and put up the same total as Taco who only had 5 starts. Both had 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

Yeah, wasn’t bad considering he just arrived there and ended up with 5 sacks. There could be some underlying issues with him. He had his best summer/training camp with us so there could be something with his work
ethic that caused Miami to move on. He wasn’t a real “effort” type player when he was here. That’s what caused Marinelli to have such a problem with him.

Goes to show how important intangibles like, "motor," heart, drive ect really are, and Im sure a big reason as to why drafting is such a difficult task.

Also shows the value of an organizations college contacts, and getting honest information from those contacts who also have it in their best interests to see their guys make it to the league.

Those 5 sacks weren't equal but yes, Dlaw was dissapointing. Doesnt mean you have to make silly comparisons. And as you can see......it was quite ridiculous

can't remember if I posted it anywhere, but I believed he'll be on his 3rd team in no time and completely forgotten about after 2-3 seasons.

Explain how those 5 sacks weren’t equal? Comparisons are going to be made when you make a player who was holding out the highest paid player in franchise history and they put up the same number of sacks as a player you just cut. Taco had 4 sacks in 5 games. He only played 3 more games after that and put up another sack. Twice he had back to back games with a sack. He had 5 sacks in his last 8 games with Miami.

"I think going after Taco in the first round gives us a defensive end that we feel like has upside, that's athletic but can also be multiple. He played right end, left end, can play inside, can mismatch guys on the inside. He had four different positions at Michigan. The right kind of kid. He's got size, he's got length – that helps us there. When you go down from there, the pass rushers that fit our scheme, it started to diminish a little bit and you had to kind of compromise who we are as a defense. It fell the right way there, and then there were some quality corners that we felt like could help us improve and they fell that way."

Like I said comparisons are going to be made when you pay one player franchise record money and a player you cut ends up putting up the same number of sacks for a terrible team. What’s being compared are the seasons they had not the players. Taco certainly isn’t better than DLaw.

He'll land somewhere else. I'm thinking they cut him because his attitude and play were not worth the millions they were paying him. So he'll clear waivers and sign with someone else for a little over vet minimal. That's about his worth right now, a little over vet minimal.
