Lol, no way does this NOT have anything to do with Dak and his holdout.

This may be a signal that for once the Boys will hold strong and not cave in to a player’s demands like they always seem to do before. The history of Jerry caving in is what made Dak and his agent go this route. Maybe with a QB better than Rush waiting in the wings will get Dak to relent just a little more than he had planned to before. Then we can all get over all this drama and focus on the future.
Yep. Insurance in case his demands remain outrageous or he doesnt show up.

Tweets like these sum up his supporters in a nutshell. Straight up delusional.

Stephen’s comment about signing him to the “right number” let the cat out of the bag

This "Dalton puts pressure on Dak" talk is evidence that Cowboys fans never watch other teams play lol

Its a great signing in a Jon Kitna context.

I watched the Bengals and I don't ever remember John Kitna taking any team to the playoffs 5 straight years, heck has Dak taken his team to the playoffs 2 years in a row yet? Oh and Dalton did that his 1st 5 seasons in the league

My assumption is Winston has untapped potential, and being 26 yo is a lot of why I favor him. Im happy with Dalton. He may not make Dak better, but I like the idea of not resting on our laurels and maintaining status quo. This should push Dak to be better.

That's why I think the Winston signing is slightly better. Dalton might be a little better as a quarterback at this moment, but we don't know what Winston's ceiling is. We clearly know who Dalton is as a quarterback at this point ... and I'm not saying that like it's a bad thing. The New York Giants won two Super Bowls with a quarterback with worse career numbers and no season as good as Dalton's best. He improves our depth and gives us a chance to continue winning (if the team is good enough) if something happened to Prescott.

Now, if we'll only get a legitimate left tackle backup and punter competition, I think I could be satisfied.

There are other areas I'd like to upgrade, but I can live with what Dallas is trying to do at those spots for now.

Andy's record as a starter pass 4 seasons

2-11 last year
5-6 in 2018
7-9 in 2017
6-9 in 2016

You think Dak would have done better with the Bengals talent the last 4 years? You should have Daltons record his 1st 5 season in there also it was

9-7 in 2011 and a playoff appearance
10-6 in 2012 and a playoff appearance
11-5 in 2013 and a playoff appearance
10-6 in 2014 and a playoff appearance
10-3 in 2015 (missed 3 games due to injury) and a playoff appearance

Underrated and not nearly as bad as people think..

He did well in Cincy and got Dak Prescott like results in a environment not nearly as optimal as Dak’s..

It did seem to me that the Bengals were far from an ideal team to play for,,, Dalton might find his footing here.

It’s not just hold out insurance. It probably is somewhat of an incentive not to play under the tag, too. If Dak goes down and Dalton plays well with the same roster off the bench it both let’s Dallas know what replacement scenarios would look like and hurts the perception of Dak’s long term value by suggesting maybe it was the weapons and not the QB.

Exactly...……………..its called competition.

With Rush and the 7th rounder sitting on the bench, Dak was sleeping like a baby at night. All of sudden, things have changed. Maybe Dak is thinking that 5 year deal the Cowboys offered aint soo bad after all and he backs off this "4 yr deal or nothing" attitude he has had lately.

Nice. Jokes aside, he’s a good backup QB option. And only a 1-year deal. Like the move.

Exactly! And, next year, if we can't resign him, maybe he becomes a nice comp pick for us. Great add for that reason. And he's a competent QB if something happens to Dak.

That would be beautifully helpful as well. This may be a shot across the bow for that reason as well.
