ID4, hands down because smart aliens would take out everything at once except they were not overly smart as they took out some strippers in LA, smart aliens would collect all the strippers first and then annihilate us. And with all the strippers gone, we'd have less to fight for because freedom just ain't enough.

However, Alien is more believable than both of them because you go up there and start messing around, you're liable to kick up some irritable aliens. Why in the hell start an intergalactic war when we've got all we need right here on Mother Earth?

Battleship. But both stories rely on unbelievable, and even physically impossible technology. But the clincher for me is the way the ID alien force field blocks all the effects of a nuclear weapon. I just find it hard to believe the technology to fly into a sun without sustaining any damage will ever be possible. Then again, the Battleship force field is pretty unbelievable too.

The sun is a hell of a lot more than a nuclear bomb. That's like saying you can't move a brick because you can't move the great wall of China.

Independence Day is more believable.

In Battleship the aliens maneuvered through our asteroid field, around all of our planets and their moons, only to hit a satellite. Then when they got here they couldn't fly? How stupid is that? So they flew here, but couldn't fly here. Really?

Yes, that really stood out when I first saw the movie. They can generate an extremely strong force field to protect a wide area, but not a force field that protects their ship from a satellite or avoid hitting the satellite in the first place.

I have an argument going w/ my nephew.

All things considered, which movie is more believable:

Independence Day

Battleship

I know, I know, neither is believable. However, our argument is over which of these two is MORE believable.
Independence Day. Even the strategy for taking down the aliens' shields was more 'fictionally' plausible than much of Battleship's content.

Which Quick Silver (CGI) effects do you like best. The ones from the Avenger movie's or the X-Men movies?

Me, the X-Men's are better, IMO.
My opinion? Avengers' movies, hands down.

As far as speedsters are concerned, I would both X-Men and Avengers versions' CGI was better than Justice League's Flash. Barry Allen's special effects was a hot mess. A man, who can run as fast as the speed of light, needs Batman to save him from falling to his death.:facepalm:

He can run at the speed of light? What keeps his mass from growing to the point that he can no longer propel himself? How was Superman able to see him, when they reanimated him and Flash was running around behind him?

Oh. You are trying to trigger my inner comic book nerd.

DC Comics established decades ago The Flash was so fast that he could break the time barrier. I doubt they were ever concerned with any physics practicalities. Your questions are completely valid outside the character's fictional world though.

Superman's abilities were downgraded in the post-Crisis of Infinite Earths storyline of the mid 1980's. Even so, Kal-El's powers are still superhumanly unworldly.

That said, Superman should not be capable of the same speed as The Flash. After all, The Flash is called 'The Fastest Man Alive' for a reason.

So, why was Superman able to see him? Why was Barry running behind him? All good questions in my book. If I were to stop for a second and think back on the movie, I could probably add ten to twenty more related questions also.

I would tell anyone they should ask Warner Bros, DC Comics, Zack Snyder and others connected with the movies and television productions the single question that pops in my mind a lot when I watch this stuff: "What the hell man?"

My opinion? Christopher Nolan should have directed ALL of Warner Bros/DC Comics movie adaptations made for the DCEU. Nolan was locked into 'accurate' on-screen character depiction with his The Dark Knight trilogy. His influence can be seen in Man of Steel as a producer but he did not direct the movie. I would vote for Patty Jenkins also after her Wonder Woman.

I mean, seriously. For me, Justice League was a trainwreck. They had Barry running around that movie as if he had ants up his okay I am going back to work now. :)

Thing is, it wouldn't matter how super Superman is. If Flash is traveling at the speed of light, he'd get where he was going as fast as the light reached Supe's eyes. Sorry to get all sciency, but I can only suspend disbelief so far. Lol

The sun is bigger and has more mass, but a thermonuclear device is actually hotter than the core temperature of the sun - for a brief moment by a lot too.

I can't say if that's true or false, but the core of the sun is a giant fusion reactor, so it seems illogical.

Regardless, I think in the way the scenario is presented, you'd have to ask, "Would the Earth survive contact with the sun, while it's survived multiple nuclear bomb explosions?" I think you could apply that comparison to the ship surviving a nuclear blast, and since we have no idea how the shields work, we can't really say what a nuclear blast should do to them.

I'm not sure, but I think a nuclear explosion is child's play to the Enterprise, yet it can't survive getting to close to a star.

Not really objecting to your observation but Barry never came close to reaching the light barrier in the movie. He was moving slowly compared to the speed he is capable of.

I do not have an issue with the director, etc., having Superman see The Flash movements. My problem with those particular instances in the movie (and I am using your strict laws of physics criteria) is WHY is THE FLASH moving as slow as he was throughout the movie? Heck, I have seen Barry move way faster in The CW series than in Justice League.:(

Superman isn't a man. A man is the male human. Superman ain't from here, so Barry can be the fastest man alive and Kal can be the fastest Krytonian male alive.

I gathered that the Barry Allen in Justice League was still very new to his abilities. He hasn't harnessed his full potential yet.

The CW Flash is funny at times when it comes to mixing "science" with respect to his speed. They have him accomplish incredible feats, say he was doing Mach 4, but he would have to be going so much faster to actually accomplish what he did.

Superman is a Kryptonian male, whose exposure to yellow star radiation and lighter gravity give him his super powers. The Flash is a human male, whose abilities are derived from the extra-dimensional speed force. Just adding more context for both.
