No that's crap. They got rid of Hopkins because he wanted to be the highest paid receiver and they didn't want to do that. Honestly their coach didn't like Hopkins. That's just what it comes down to. Hopkins was under contract for 3 more years......
then they were idiots to give him away for so little. you have your perspective on things, i have mine. and if, as you say, their coach just didn't like hopkins, why cut off your nose to spite your face. the texans were hornswoggled. they should have done what dallas did with dak and tag him for the immediate year.

This year...they could have been paying him that for the next 4 years but they backed themselves into a corner when they caved to the ewoks diva hissy fit.

Now they’re gonna have to pay for it literally and/or figuratively.
Dak already turned down the best deal he'll get.
We need to be prepared to move on from Dak after this season.

he's going to have to be more reasonable in his expectations than he's been so far.

I don't think they could have tagged him as he had 3 years left on his contract.

IIRC

Note it's for Dak, NOT ET. Guess it's safe to say Dak WILL get his deal after the season

That appears to be the plan. Might be fairly telling that we did not do these things this year to work out a deal with Dak. The front office could have known the entire time that it wasn't going to get a deal worked out now, for whatever reasons.

crawford is trysten hill's backup. but he makes a lot more money. something is wrong with this equation.
Nothing wrong with it. Crawford is a vet and Hill is on his rookie deal.

Because O'Brien has been running the team into the ground. They gave Laremy Tunsil CRAZY money. They are paying everyone. He gave him away because he just didn't want him on the team. Hopkins is a dominant personality and if you are a weak coach you can't handle personalities like him. Now they feel that this was all justified because of his extension even though you factor in his 3 years he still has under contract its a average value of 19 million per year. They can't afford tools Watson and they were smart getting in front of this deal. Every team from the Eagles, Rams, Chiefs and Texans........they were all smart in getting front of these deals....Cowboys are the only stupid ones. Well...Commanders were too with Cousins.

More like preparing for if the cap decreases next year as predicted. Smart move, has nothing to do with borrowing from the future years. You can't do that. Still have to be under the cap no matter what.

They are in fact borrowing from future years lol, that is what restructuring is. It's kicking the can down the road, as we are all too familiar.

Makes sense for us currently.

Here's your full quote. I believe Jackson can sign now.
Yes Jackson can sign now but clearly the Ravens do not have to pay him now.....hopefully he does not because that would also jack up Dak's asking price.....when Dak is able to sign.

Nope.
Crawford is the starting 5 tech in the base and will continue to play the 5-tech when we switch to the 3-4, and he will get some inside snaps when we go 4-2.

I don't understand it at all.

Hill is supposed to be starting and Gregory will be back week 6.

Guys!!! This no longer Rod's 4-3!!!
In this year's base, Crawford is the starting 5 tech. When we switch to a 3-4 he is one of the 5 techs. When we switch to 4-2 nickel he will get snaps as a DT. He is actually the best DL we have for that role.

To be fair that sound nothing like what you originally posted. "hurry up and sign him" vs. "when he is able to sign" are two totally different things. Add to that "before Lamar" vs. "Jackson can sign now but clearly the Ravens do not have to pay him now" and...

I can see the confusion is all I am saying.

I think nfl rules forbid restructuring until after 3rd season. I think texans jumped the gun and should have kept hopkins. Giant step backwards, imo.

No argument there. Still couldn't have tagged him though.

Edit: he must not have been under his 3rd season since he got an extension with his new team.
As a matter of fact he joined the NFL in 2013.

Idk man Crawford just never played up to the level he was expected to
