Dak has led this offense to the #1 offense in the entire NFL last year and this year until he went down. The Cowboys as of last night still had the #9 offense in the NFL because of what Dak accomplished in his 5 games. Jarwin will be back and Cee Dee will even be better. Why take a chance on some QB who has all the physical talents like a Ryan Leaf when you don't know what's in his heart? You don't. You use your high draft pick and parlay those into more picks if possible and build your defense. No doubt get rid of Nolan. He's not the answer. He hasn't adjusted to his talent. There are some solid young players to build on going forward. Diggs, LVE, Dlaw and maybe some others. We still need a ton of talent on defense and the only way to do it cheaply is through the draft.

This is why I have hope. We're not too far away despite JJ's incompetence. We're going to be picking high in every round and already have 9 draft picks next year and can end up with even more is Jones plays his cards right. We've done good in the draft recently so there's hope. Pinning all your hopes on wasting a draft pick on a QB in the 1st round is naïve, short sighted and stupid and it's why the Cowboys will not do it.

How sad is it that you have to explain WHY we need to draft defense to some of these fans on here?

Jets not letting Lawrence get away from them, so just mark him gone. Fields more than likely 2nd, so the third spot will probably be the loser Sunday of our game with Cinn. If us and don't take the OT, just trade down a couple of spots and rake in more draft picks and build this TERRIBLE D.

Trade down the first pick. Then draft as much defense as you can. Other than getting a OT the Cowboys need 8-9 new defensive players coming in next April. Hopefully into a new scheme.

Does anyone remember the Pittsburgh Steelers defense looking pretty bad 2-3 years ago, then they drafted well..(AJ Watt, remember him) and signed a couple of really good free agents, now their "D" is as good as any in the league.. THAT'S because they have competent ownership and management, something you dont find in Dallas.

I wouldn't hate the Sewell pick.

I'd actually love it, it answers a lot of questions and is a need. You only have to look at the disaster on O-Line this season to see it.

I'm just not going to sell myself on the hope it's an option. I'm not sure the Bengals beat the Cowboys and I feel the Eagles are falling down a hole. I can see a 5-11 team.

That eliminates Sewell. I'm thinking on the basis of the Cowboys having a top 5 pick, which is bad for defense this year.

Horn's my pet cat outside the top 10. He won't be the first DB drafted but his ceiling might be higher than any other DB in the draft. Possibly the best cover skills of anyone, just needs to be coached out of using his hands so much.

If Dallas can get Horn just out of the top 10 along with some more picks, that's way higher value. I agree, if Sewell is there, don't pass on your next starting Tackle, but otherwise, trade out.

FA is always going to be thin, either old, or problematic. its rare a true stud hits FA.....and usually those older, problematic players want lots of money and thus it becomes a high risk game. it may work out, it may not....enough gambling. enough taking chances. I rather have the sure thing that we can build upon. Jimmy once drafted Russell maryland 1st overall. why? he said not because he was the best and had the highest ceiling, it was because I knew what I was going to get and I could do something with that. the rest in the draft had higher ceilings, but also lower floors and very risky...

this is a 2-3 year process for the cowboys. I am leaning on 3, because of our past history of drafting defensive players.

caleb Farley. I like Surtain. he is solid, but his ceiling is lower than Farley.....

I am concerned about Parsons. He is an off the ball LB, based on what I have read. not worth a top 5 pick.

Farley, Surtain. on the outside parsons, although I would trade down a few spots and believe parsons may still be available.

no offense. Farley or Surtain are talented for a top 5 pick......

but I like the idea of trading down to tha 10-12 spot and get a lot more picks....given our track history of defensive drafting, we need numbers and as many as possible hoping to hit on one or two
