Zeke and Amari are payed to be difference makers. They haven’t made a difference this season.

Using stats as your sole indicator of success is where you fail.

:hammer:

I'm not that upset with Amari. I hate that we have that much money going to a WR. You don't see a lot of championship football teams paying that kind of money to WR's.

Zeke though... That's the biggest disappointment.

The thing that upsets me most about Zeke is his big play ability is just gone. It's vanished.

I could give him a pass if he hit a homerun every now and then but he is just such a normal RB these days.

Pollard.. At least he looks shot out of a cannon at times and you see something impressive every now and then.

Zeke is just too normal to pay that kind of money too.

so based on that these are the ones under performing
Zeke
Jaylon Smith
Smith (always injured...time to go)
Collins (injured so not playing up to his contract)
Lawrence
Crawford

and whose fault is that?

You left out:

Lee (always injured ... time to go)
Martin (missed games two of the last three seasons about to miss 6 games this year and played one series in two others so really closer to 8 games missed.. time to go? Or should we just keep the Uber gassed up to take him out of town next year?)
LVE ( always injured .. time to go I know he's on a rookie deal but is he playing appreciably better than the other LBs?)

Someone tell me what's different about these lists.

yes, my bad....you are right.

perhaps the only two I am willing to give a pass to, are Martin and Collins because of injury issues and no history (long history).

I love Smith, he has been the top or top 2 LT in football for so many years and dominant, but has been injured the past 3 or 4 years and has back and neck issues which will only get worse. in a way, I am hoping Sewell is available and you take him and don't look back. time to think LT for the next 10 years.....

LVE had a lot of hype in his first year of play, but has cooled off a lot. his play has been average and plus the neck injury issue....

Cooper is still really good, that shouldn't be in question.

But Zeke is a power back who will typically get a few positive yards, bruise the defense and wear them out but he just doesn't break away for big chunks. This last game I was happy to see him try to run to more daylight than in previous games and he performed way better than his 3.5 average he had been getting. Still love Zeke in the redzone, short yardage, 4th down situations though that's where he excels. If he would realize he can't power through DT's like he used to and makes them miss or cuts back to the open hole he is still a hard tackle by most DB's. And by changing his style to try and avoid the DL instead of ramming it head on he would start to get more of those 10-15 yard runs that he is capable of.

I appreciate the acknowledgement. With Tyron I really hope that this nagging neck thing has been fixed by the surgery and we get 14+ games a year out of him for the next 5 years. That's really the only thing that has cost him .. that and the occasional back flare up but huge guys who slam into other huge guys for a living are going to have back flare ups. Hell most of us who sit on our butts for a living have occasional back flare ups so I'm not really worried about that one. We DO need to draft a developmental tackle in case the surgery DIDN'T fix Tyron but I'm not doing that in the first round.. Not when I have the worst defense in franchise history which is in contention for the worst defense in NFL history.

Neither guy is a leader that can lift this team up. We seem to be lacking leadership overall.

I think your idea is as good as any. the only reason I mentioned Sewell is because he is a generational talent (as some say and yes a bit of exageration) similar to Smith when we drafted him.

I seriously think that a lot of our problems on defense are because of Nolan and the scheme. I was reading a few articles yesterday and apparantley his scheme is complex because of all the reads each player has to do prior to snap, etc. and if everyone is not on the same page, same read, then it falls apart and it takes years to learn it (perhaps). a good example was LVE making the wrong read and reaction on the Jackson TD run...he admited to it himself...

and I feel like the players are getting frustrated and giving up by the end of the game....although I hate players giving up, I can understand the frustration.

In 2016 he had 20 or more carries 12 times. This year? 3. Yes this year they've been behind a lot, no doubt.

But as Jimmy said just this last weekend, Zeke is effective when he can wear the defense out, late in the game he can make the big runs. He's not been able to do that this year, certainly with the likes of 12 carries or less, which has happened 5 times this year.

Has he regressed, and is no longer the back he was in 2016? That's entirely possible, but I'd like to see the return of Smith and Collins and a full year of conditioning and coaching for Biadasz and McGovern and Williams, and a healthy Dak, before I decide....

Ditto.. It makes way more sense to see if this thing comes together without all the injuries next year than to assume it won't and start take 20 million dollar cap hits to get rid of good players.

The problem is early in the game he's getting 2-3 yards at most. That is not sustainable. We were unstoppable even though they knew we were running on 1st down. We can no longer afford to let zeke take us 3 and out all game just to get to the 4th quarter when their defense is tired. It would be dumb not to use a strength of our offense with these wr's, we need the 1st downs too bad to run zeke for 2-3 yards a clip constantly. We are more effective passing the ball early than running and 1st downs wear out a defense more than any RB. But like i said earlier, if Zeke would stop running into DT's and look for space then we would be much more effective running early in the game which gives us 1st downs, TOP, keeps this lousy defense off the field etc.

Kinda hard not to run into them when they are frequently standing next to him when he takes the handoff.

Smith isn't helping either. He's got fans talking about drafting a LT and he has 4 years left on his contract.

No problem with coop.

Zeke OTOH as lve said many times. Watch some 2016 film vs today. Clearly less burst and a little less top end CLEARLY.
Still a solid RB, no longer elite .

Right cause no other back ever runs towards daylight, they have to run straight into a defensive lineman.

I get the hate, and so does @rocyaice! It only took him 5 years but he finally came around tonight and agreed with me. Isn’t that right @rocyaice or should I post a picture of the conversation in case you have sudden amnesia?
