where's the significant better play?
they win because of their defense not offense

NbcWashington :

The Washington defense struggled in the first half, giving up big plays and long drives. At halftime, the Panthers had racked up more than 200 yards of total offense and converted 50% of their third downs

Alex Smith: 7 games
4tds , 1420yards , 6 Ints, 66% comp rate

Dwayne Haskins: 7 games
5Tds, 1439yards, 7ints, 61.4% comp rate

and their defense the past several games or so has not been what it was during their 4 game win streak. The entire team has not been the same.

and I don't think the defense has been all that great anyway except when they played us, and we know our injury issues were against their greatest strength

lol.. they were down close to that with smith already with Smith. They only almost came back because the defense forced a turnover and Carolina was content with playing conservative the whole 4th while alowing them to waste the clock.
he was down 21 to Detroit

They weren't "down already close to that with Smith" because Smith didn't play against the Panthers. He also didn't play the week before against the Seahawks.

When Smith does play the team usually wins. Between 2018 an 2020, Smith has started 16 games. The WFT is 11-5 in those games. He's only lost once this season. I think he has had a winning record each of the last 9 seasons as starter spread over 3 different franchises.

And the Panthers blitzed 25% in the 4th quarter and never sent less than 4...WFT's 3rd--sorry, 4th string QB should have had 3 TDs credited to him during his 9 minutes of play in the 4th quarter: The first was a great pass that would have been caught in stride right at the goal line except the WR was being held like a **'er--you clearly see the receiver's jersey and arm being pulled back by the DB as the receiver is running past him. He had to dive to make up for being held and still had the ball drop onto his hands but bounced out as he hit the ground, Without the hold he goes in standing up, The 2nd TD was caught at the goal line as well and the TE fell into the end zone but it was called back on a phantom holding call against the OL (replay showed the DLineman seriously playing up the "hold" with waving arms and all the theatrics...he wasn't anywhere near the QB). Third TD finally counted. Long story short, Panthers in no way shape or form were playing prevent, and kept having TDs against them negated.

Just an FYI..... Facts in the Zone can confuse some posters.

Not too many facts in his post.

They haven't allowed anyone to score more than 20 points in the last 7 games, and have virtually shut down opposing offenses completely in the 2nd half. Over the last 3 games they have allowed 2.3 points per game in the 2nd half...that means the defense will always keep the team in games, giving them a chance to overcome the deficit or hold whatever lead they may have at the half. In the 5 games Smith has started the team has never score less than 20 points in a game. In the one loss they had with him as starter, they scored 27 pts.

You rigt facts can confuse some. because Ibwasnt talking about the Panthers game when when Smith was down, I said Smith was down already this season, if you read, you would've seen it was about the slow starts he was down 24-3 to the lions
