Do you like the hiring of Dan Quinn?

Yes, and like others I am all for failed head coaches who have fire lit under them, and come back as an OC or DC. Some guys are just not meant to be a HC, this was clearly the case with him.

I just wish this organization would decide what kind of defense they are trying to be. Quinn is the 9th DC we have hired in 20 seasons. We have run the 4-3 then switched to the 3-4, then back to the 4-3, then for one year the hybrid 4-2-5, now back to the 4-3.

I don’t know if Dan Quinn can fix this horrible defense or not. But this team desperately needs an infusion of defensive talent and for the love of all things football stick with a philosophy and scheme for a while.

Love sarcasm! Of course, you knew that, right?

I really didn’t know what to make of your response. I took it as if you were one of those in that thread who loved the Mike Nolan hire.

Quinn has at least demonstrated success in this league at some point, so I can't say I'm mad about the hire. He's gotten to a superbowl and would have essentially won one if not for utter insanity. He hasn't recovered from that loss as an HC, but he still might have a lot in the tank as a DC, ala Wade Phillips, so I'll give him a shot.

Wow, how’d you make that connection?

If Kris Richard will accept a role as DB coach, I'd bring him back. If we draft another quality cb and possibly bring in Earl or some other safety, although we won't have the legion of boom, we could have a solid enough rotation to field a decent defense.

I could care less either way.
Until this team gets within smelling smelling distance of a Super Bowl championship I'm not getting emotionally involved in this team.

Not a bad hire. But once again they interview almost no real competition and hire the 2st qualified guy they speak to. Why can't they speak to 4-5 really good candidates then make a decision?
Well like I said yesterday, jerry likes guys with big names and former HC's, someone who has done something. JG was the only nobody he hired, well kellen too.
But he likes big names.
Dan fits all the things jerry likes.
I was pretty sure he would be the hire.
Maybe it will be a good hire, maybe not.

I wonder why anyone would want to be DC here aside from the money.
They are stuck with Jaylon as the "cornerstone" Gregory as the ongoing project, LVE as the wounded warrior, no safetys except D. wilson, weak in DB's
no good interior DL, and a GM that gives the priority to offensive players.

Add to that the bad culture, and players that only play hard a few games a year , when they feel like it.
So really any coach that comes here is going to have a hard time getting this team to the next level.

MM is a outdated yes man, and kellen is learn on the job OC. so really Quinn cant be worse than them.

He has a big job trying to whip our defense into one that can stop the run, and pass, and not be the worst defense in the league.
Only 2-3 other teams allowed more points this season.
A truly smart coach would not want to coach the cowboys, ever think about that? I wouldnt want to .

Anyone think the Jaylon gets moved to the Bruce Irvin role? He was a SAM around the line of scrimmage and blitzed a lot on 3rd downs.

By your disjointed response and the fact you’re only the second person who commented to my post containing that link. The other fan who replied posted in that thread and loved the Nolan hire at the time.
