Gallup and maybe Gregory are the only 2 I'd resign atm, and maybe Williams. LVE I wouldn't keep. Plus, if we load up in FA and the draft, those won't matter too much.

I agree. But if they sign those 3 the Cowboys aren't going to have the space people think. And unless they hit on a couple of super stars, rookies usually take a couple of years.

I do blame the GM..

Now we wait 5 years to have hope again.
I'm just trying to work out how many years have definitely been written off because of the contract. I think it's 3 years isn't it? Issue is that Prescott will probably be kept on afterwards where the blame will be shifted towards the defense without actually thinking why!?

Romo was made the highest paid qb coming off an 8-8 season. He couldn't make certain throws either.

Well good, Dak is now the second highest player coming off a 2-3 season with a season ending injury. Jerry sure can pick them huh ?

His prorated bonus is 13.2 over the next 5 years. So that leaves 94mil for base. Out of that base, 60 mil is guaranteed either fully or for injury.

Since there talk of 2 void years it means they can restructure him next year possibly and take advantage of spreading that bonus out over 5 years.

Imo I expect a high base salary next year that will be prime for restructure. Dak still gets paid regardless.

Otherwords, they can keep his cap hit low for the short term future. Which lines up perfectly with our offensive line and dlaws contract
Well thank you brethren :D I got to about the end of your first sentence before the steam started coming out of the ears. 90 plus 5 and carry the what? But appr the last sentence, whew when I first saw 42.5M avg, I spit out my drink tbh :muttley: Russel Wilson gets 35M avg, wth is going on here

Because he started the game.

This is the most laughable defense of frantically trying to pad this loser's record. He played 4 full games and went 1-3. You don't leave a close game in the 3rd quarter and win anything.

The NFL should handle wins and losses like baseball does. If a reliever comes with his team losing and the team comes back to win, the reliever gets the win, not the starter. I view that game as a win for Dalton, not Dak.

Well, I'd try to replace Williams in the draft if I can. Gregory shouldn't cost much. Gallup is the only one on that list that's going to be expensive imo, and he's another one that shouldn't be hard to replace in the draft.

While you are whining, Dak and the Cowboys, will sleep well tonight.

I swear, I think all of the indecision on Dak and his contract situation helped the team breakdown last year. I think things like that (with the leader of your team) can help derail an entire season.

Very glad it is settled and all the players can stop answering questions and just get ready to play.
Exactly...stringing your QB along, making him play out his entire rookie contract as the starter is unheard of for even 1st round players, much less 4th rounders. If they had traded him or released it, it would have been really hard on the team. Players lose hope when you don’t take care of the most important guy.

Haven’t seen full details.

but I’m sure they are options that the player can void. Thereby making it just a 4 year deal BUT the signing bonus can be spread over 6 years instead of 4. Which lowers the cap
Hit by about 5.5 mil per season.

Unless they changed the rules the bonus can be spread out over 5 years max.

Dak Haters now ...

Did people not say he was going to get $40M AAV?

It has nothing to do with hating Dak.. I like Dak.. I just understand that the contract was about relevancy and Dallas signed away any chance to field a title contender.

It'd make more sense than simply giving the win to whoever started the game.

Bottom line is the dude went 1-3 in games he started and finished. The team went 4-7 without him. Then you have the one win he split time with Dalton.

This guy's a winner!
