A GB defense that was allowing 400 yards regularly going into the playoffs and had backup CBs off the street. A team that got destroyed by the Falcons the next week to the point Rodgers with the ball on the last drive was meaningless. Dez had the best game of his life against that garbage secondary and they ended up releasing him.

Did you forget we beat Green Bay AT Lambeau earlier in the year? 30-16 was the score. We lost to them 31-34 in the playoffs. Who held up their end of the deal twice and who didn't?

In my opinion the reason Jerry can't win is not based on his contract negotiation skills. It's because he needs the credit for winning and won't let his coach have the authority and respect of the team. Mike McCarthy instead of Urban Meyer type of crap. Jason Garrett instead of Harbaugh.

Jerry got out ahead of the Jaylon contract. Maybe too far ahead but its not just Jerry evaluating these players.
The reality is our cap situation is not why we are or will not win.
I agree with your points. I would add that his negotiation skills and how that is impacting the cap will be on the long list of why we are not winning.

I guess what I'm depressed about is Jerry and his son are establishing a pattern of caving to the player's demands and not holding their ground. They did it with Zeke, Cooper, Dlaw, etc. and now they have done it with Dak. The weakness of the front office is depressing and it goes along with the issues of wanting all the glory, not hiring a coach, demanding to be the face of the franchise. Now with all those ongoing problems with the organization's leadership we get to add poor contract maneuvering and caving to players.

Bill Belicheck and and Robert Kraft let Tom Brady walk. They made the hard, and very unpopular, decision to let Brady go and blow up the team. They allowed themselves to suck for a year and purge their roster of bad contracts. They did not bow to the GOAT's wishes. Brady left and won a super bowl.

Keep an eye on this situation. Belicheck and Kraft let the player go a year too early instead of 3 years too late. They let their 6 time super bowl winning QB leave the building because they didn't think he was worth keeping and they kept their personal feelings aside. The Patriots are a well run organization that will make the hard decisions on players and not enable them. The Patriots will win a playoff game before the Cowboys will.

But I completely agree with what you're saying. I'm just adding we have 2 or 3 more things to add to the long list of why our organization is so dysfunctional.

Its a 123 million guaranteed likely with a 66m signing bonus which basically makes him untradable (as the signing bonus stays with you) already. Getting replaced was not in the agenda.

The guarantee isn't the problem. The signing bonus is a hurdle, but not insurmountable.

LOL.. No... what you actually said is on post #795, which is what I am referring to.

Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott have agreed to new contract

Uh yes... But you don’t seem to get it. That post that you thinks proves your point follows the actual quote that I just provided for you to give it context.

That “I pay to be entertained bruh” which you are quoting the response to is a response to this very quote of mine which clearly demonstrates what I am talking about in regards to organizational influence:

So you paying Jerry an arm and a leg for a mediocre product means you influence this organization’s personnel decisions.. wow bruh..

The implication bring, both of you connected with remarks that made zero sense.

First year cap number - 22.2 million. It’s a 15.5 million dollar savings. That’s all you need to care about. They’ll guarantee more money each year to keep the cap number down.

Ryan Tannehill's contract looks a bargain in comparison when people were laughing at his contract last season.

Listen if dak is horrible the next two years your most likely rebuilding anyway so you could cut him at some point down the line.

if we don’t win anything in that 2-3 yr period were probably rebuilding anyway. I like the 4 year deal.

however now dak will be judged on wins..... no more excuses for him. Coaching.... less talent around him. Doesn’t matter

You mean like in the 4th QB of a playoff game?
And he got away with the dying duck that got picked off in the end zone.

Look, I just see Dak having a tough time against stout defenses. And the deeper a team goes in the playoffs the tougher the defenses get.

He now has to match his salary demands with his play on the field.

I’m not sure what your point is. The Packers went on a 1-5 loss streak, meaning they were playing garbage ball and everybody thought they weren’t even going to make the playoffs by then. And Rodgers stated carrying them, while their defense actually got worse and in their like last five of six games let up well over 400 yards, including to the Bears, Lions and Vikings. And we had home field advantage.
