There's also always that one team in the top 10 that picks some 20th + ranked player with their pick.

Hard to know for sure, but I think Teddy Bridgewater is a better QB than Darnold. Puzzling deal.

I guess they’re looking at potential. At this point, everyone knows what Bridgewater is. Darnold is an enigma because Adam Gase is a horrifically bad coach.

Here are the results of TE's drafted in the first or high second round since 2014:

Cole Kmet
TJ Hockenson
Noah Fant
Hayden Hurst
Mike Gesikki
OJ Howard
Even Ingram
Hunter Henry
Eric Ebron

Any of those guy worth the high pick? TE is the biggest draft bust position in all of football.

Best TE in football is Kelcy and he was taken in the 3rd round.

Kmet was a rookie so I am not sure we should write him off yet. But the others? It’s definitely an interesting list of busts and potential soon to be busts.

Seriously, taking a TE with a top 10 pick is borderline dumb. Especially if your offense is top 5 in the NFL. Our passing game is probably top 3 if not the best.

Can you build an offense around a TE? 1000 yards and 12 TD's? Those are all world numbers for a TE. Is that worthy of a top 10 pick?

They are far from a complete team but they likely will address OL or WR at 8. Rhule is a very good coach and Brady is a bright OC. He’s in a pretty good situation now, far better than where the Jets are.
DJ Moore is a stud wr and Robby Anderson had a career year as the possession guy last yr with Teddy B under center. Cmac is the best receiving running back in the NFL and I believe Pitts is the pick because Ian Thomas has been a bust at TE.

Terrible news for the Cowboys.

Panthers now in line for Pitts,Sewell and Chase.

The Panthers are not wedded to Darnold. They basically gave up the equivalent of a 2021 3rd, 5th, and 6th rounder for Darnold on a one year prove it contract. They gave up little. If they let Darnold walk next year they probably get a 3rd round comp pick.

If a QB is there at 8, the Panthers could easily pivot toward a QB.

I see Sewell, Pitts, and Chase are going 4,5,and 6. Maybe not in that order.

so this is cowboys news how>? means nothing to us what so ever, goes in NFL News area
I would say that, draft-wise, this does affect the Cowboys and how they go about strategizing the new current situation.
Especially if they are doing like many teams are: agreeing to certain, situational trades depending on how the draft unfolds beforehand.
I disagree with you on this one.

Carolina got him for nothing. Great trade. Darnold is going to be good.
I would not be so certain that Darnold is going to be good, but I agree it was a good trade.

Obviously you cant spot blue chip talent, because we have plenty of it on offense. More than we need actually.

And obviously you cant see the blue chip talent in Surtain.
They better find a way to get some better depth on the offensive line. Can they count on both Tyron Smith and that other tackle to be there?

11 defeats, cmon, they suck.
'CowboyRoy' - being really bad one year does not mean an NFL team cannot turn it around in the next season.

He is in a much better place. I live in NY and watched him a lot. He can play. Big guy. Moves well. Makes all the throws. The Jets were terrible on offense. Terrible playmakers. Terrible OL. Gase was terrible. Darnold was surrounded by terrible. You’ll see. I will gently remind you mid season.

I felt all flushed with fever, embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he'd found my letters and read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish, but he just kept right on
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly
Telling my whole life
Killing me softly...
