Exactly. His game is going down and not up, and they just signed Neal to be the third LB behind two guys they’re not ready to give up on yet. And they’re going to pay good money to bring that guy in? No, it was never going to happen.

The only plus for Wright is that he knows the defense Quinn will be running, very well. Everything being equal, I’d like to have his experience in this system. However, for what he was going to want dollar wise, it never really made sense to me.

He’s just a name that fans know, so a lot wanted to sign him. Same reason that a lot of people were happy that they signed Haha and Poe last year.

+1 ......notice no other teams are signing him either. But I think some fans/posters were HOPING he'd replace Jaylon Smith.

Here are a few top insider views.

1)Parsons is a tremendous athlete who forces turnovers with big hits and explosiveness. He offers the ability to develop into a three-down defender, but he must polish his instincts and be quicker diagnosing plays rather than relying on sheer athleticism to get to the action. He’s a scheme-versatile linebacker, though I prefer him as a traditional weakside 4-3 outside ‘backer.

2)
  • Needs to prove ability to find solo tackles.
  • Lack of experience and patience shows in early diagnosis.
  • Runs himself out of position with unnecessary early charges.
  • Quick to run rather than scrape with square pads.
  • Has issues battling downhill rushing attacks coming right at him.
  • Loses gap leverage side-stepping lead blocks.
  • Takes on blocks with shoulder over punch and separation.
  • Needs to run feet through the strike as tackler.
  • Stiff hands missed out on easy interceptions.
3). Potential to be overly aggressive; Multiple examples in college misdiagnosing misdirection plays; Has a tendency to bite hard on the run when in coverage; Man coverage instincts at the next level may need some work; Hasn’t played since 2019

We need a can’t miss first rounder. One that doesn’t have these types of question marks.
they ALL have question marks.
there are no perfect prospects.

Wright played excellent last year. He probably had more tackles for losses than all our LBers combined last year. He won a Super Bowl while playing in Quinn’s Defense!

Why do you think his game is going down? Even if it is slightly, he is still twice the player of both Jaylon and LVE.

Wright would have been the perfect fit at LBer for this team!!

would have? been hes still available

so your personal eval hasn't landed him on team yet..why i that stop making this a DC things when there are actually plenty of DBs , LBs, etc for them to sign post draft..you wait post draft to fill out the roster with some quality vets ..

This is why you sign proven Free Agents.

You pay more for a Free Agent you know can do an excellent job! Many of these prospects will be worse than Jaylon!

No one can deny Wright would be the perfect fit for Quinn’s D. Sign him to a 1 year deal( I would sign him for 2-3 if possible)if you think he is slowing down. Sign him at 5-7 million per year.

I know he is still available, but there is speculation Dallas is going in a different direction. I hope this speculation is wrong and he gets signed by us.

He hasn’t landed on a team yet because, he and his agent, want to cash in during Free Agency, not because he is not a top LBer in this league. This is not my evaluation this is Quinn’s evaluation. He is a top LBer, who has played at an all pro level in this defense and won a Superbowl in it.

I can’t see a team with Jaylon starting, hoisting a Lombardi trophy!!

kj britt auburn

just gimmie 2 of'm.

I wholeheartedly agree it's way too many good ones to go after an aging LB. I would rather have a young head knocker out this group.

Very bad move on JJ's part. With the current group of Cowboy's LBers poor play and inabilities to to stay healthy, JJ had a chance to make a decent splash in the FA department......................
This would have been a big splash in my opinion, considering Wright’s ability and his knowledge of Quinn’s D.

How much do you pay the guy?
Try to get him for 5-7 million per year. Maybe a little more. 1-2 year contract. Restructure some contracts and dump Jaylon next year. Dump LVE next year too, if he does not improve.

Last year Wright had more tackles for losses, than 95%, of starting LBers! Jaylon and LVE don’t know what a TFL is!

I don't see him taking a one year deal. He will stay in Seattle under that circumstance. Same with a two year deal. Seattle has his number and will likely take him back. They were smart to let him test the market and see that teams aren't too eager to sign a 32 year old LB to a multi year deal.

Restructuring is a terrible way to get a 32 year old LB on the roster.

An aging LB that played better than 95 of starting LBers! That LBer?

You would rather have an unproven rookie that has never even played in the NFL? Parsons may be great, but he may be worse than Jaylon. He hasn’t played for over a year!

Restructuring is sometimes a necessity when you over pay players, and if you have the brains to realize a specific Free Agent is worth restructuring a couple contracts for.

Wright is the perfect fit to run Quinn’s D. He played excellent last year. Of course he is aging! Everyone ages. Some of us better than others. Look at our Commander and Chief.
