But we could have picked up an additional 1st round next year and why the Giants jumped at it. We could have always used our additional 3rd round picks to move up again.
But if they moved down to 20 probably no shot at parsons or phillips. I mean i would have been perfectly fine with dropping to 20 and drafting farley. But how it panned out i cant complain

I think if taking the Bears trade offer would have meant that at # 20, we would have wiped out all our first round graded players.
So that's why they chose to go with the Eagle trade, move back 2 spots knowing their highest rated defensive player would in all likelihood be there. And pick up another pick.
By doing so, that extra 3 million gets spread out to another defensive player. So for the same money, we get Parsons AND the edge rusher.
I don't always like their choices or how things are run - but the trade back after getting wiped out of our 2 corners was a smart moved. They were actually prepared for that scenario.
Smart in this case !

They definitely made the right move. After the corners i yelled at the tv for them to trade back. I was a little thrown off it was with philly and only netted a 3rd. But its aiight. I was hoping the pats wanted to move up for fields.

I was thrown off too, but a 3rd is a lot to move just 2 spots down! Nice to rob Philly also lol... they probably would have taken someone good in the 3rd.

What else are we going to ponder for 5 months? I like pondering what if because I can usually make that better than what is.

Let's ponder what if those Japanese businessmen buy the Cowboys and move them to LA and change their name to the LA Sunset Strippers. Then Kraft buys the Patriots and moves them to Dallas and gets the Cowboys name back, we end up with 6 more rings instead of 3 and now have 8 to lead the NFL. Instead of a bleary eyed drunk for an owner, we have a massage seeking drunk for an owner but we are happy. And we redefine cheating to getting an edge.

I was thinking the same thing, Parson lost out from 10 to 12. Boys still need to pick up the third round pick.
That 3rd round pick was Chauncey Golston. Some have compared him to Michael Bennett.

So it is Michael Parsons plus a Michael Bennett type DE who plays the run real well. I'm very happy with that.

I’d prefer pondering things we can more easily put our finger on like potential missed trades in 1st round or priorities in the draft. Or why we didn’t move up in 2nd round to get our guy.

For some reason not the kinda pondering to your liking and choosing to steer away from.

On the flip side a third isn’t much to give up to get your guy in the 1st . Maybe If we had our eye on getting one of our CB in 1st we might have given up a 3rd to get him. Same in the 2nd round.

That’s the beauty of a fan forum. We can second guess everything.

I liked our focus on defense in the draft. Thought considering our top two priorities were swooped right from under us we recovered fine.

But how much better could it have been if we’d move up just 1 spot in 1st and 2nd or round to get our guys? Just saying... it’s worthy of discussion IMO.

Yeah I would have told Philly it’s a 2nd or bounce. You don’t gift a division rival a player without making them pay for it.

"Our guy" was obviously not their guy because they were within reach of the 4 of the 5 most talked about D players, Horn, Surtain, Barmore, Mohring and they took Parsons.

It's funny to watch us get to that point. Our mock is their draft, when does that ever work out? It doesn't even come close.

You recall all of the angst over taking Yosemite. Few stopped to actually look at the pick and what was behind it, it was just the wrong pick. Well, it wasn't and he was picked even higher in the re-drafts I saw.

I do not think most of us really consider just how far out of it the GM is in terms of knowledge of these players. He is 100% dependent on the scouting and only cares about name players in the interview process. All that fist bumping going on in the conference room, I am not calling that a war room, he was clueless what he was celebrating. However, I was a clueless why they were celebrating.
