He is not the only one changing jersey numbers. There is one more player doing it.

Danny White had all those passing records with playoff wins, division championships and 3 more NFC Championship games before Romo was out there padding and playing for stats. Why no one is worried about Parson wearing no.11? If your are not going to worry about no. 11, then don't worry about no. 9.

Cowboys had 6 straight winning seasons with Danny White starting at QB. He was replaced and lost his starting job after going 12-4 and losing a wild card playoff game. When did Romo have 6 straight winning seasons. Romo did not play with a broken pinky on his no throwing hand. Ask Roger Staubach to show you his pinky finger with those 2 Super Bowl Rings and 4 NFC Championship rings. Romo was inconsistent in winning, playing for stats, and always had his leadership at QB constantly in questioned.

How Arlington Jonesboys fans don't know Dallas Cowboys history or why the Dallas Cowboys are America's Team.

Thank you for waisting 30 seconds of my life. The fact that you even ask these questions and can not decipher the differences in what you are talking about really screams out that you have basically no understanding of football and this organization.

Zack Martin should change his number to #12.

Actually, the offensive line should be more linear. The center should be #0, the right side should be positive numbers but the left side should be negative numbers that mirror the right side's positive numbers.

So if Zack wore #12, at least one of the Connor twins must wear #-12.

Can a number be arranged as an exponent? NFL football could be educational like the Muppet show.

"Dak's new number is 2 squared, kids, so he really didn't change his jersey number. "

The Cowboys don't retire jersey numbers....officially.

What they do is wait for the right player to come along, one they believe will bring further honor...or notoriety to that number.

Two Cowboys, both wearing #54, have been Super Bowl MVP's. That number has meaning to this team's history. The Cowboys were so confident that Bruce Carter was going to be great that they gave the number to him and his failure to succeed decremented the value of #54. Jerry had already received some criticism for assigning the number to Darren Hambrick in the late 90's. Now some player wants to dispose of this honor to satisfy his own vanity.

The numbers #22, #94 and #88 hold similar value to some. Gregory's career so far is just a little more disappointing as a result. The jersey #74 is not retired, but practically untouchable.

Can you imagine the pressure on a Cowboy quarterback that was assigned #12? Actually that would only happen to a #1 overall pick. Before Jerry bought the team, Tex Schram had remarked that Aikman would look really good wearing #12.

But you are probably right. It is nothing because the league and it's fans have changed. The game has changed. With free agency and fantasy leagues, NFL football has become less of a team sport and more of a "me" sport. This is just another example of this evolution.

Too bad recent history doesn't support your opinion on #4.

Epic Fail
You are a stats guy we know that W's and play off wins are what matters , you have to stop failing time after time. I look forward to this season and hope to see a change, hope being the optimal word, based on past history as a barometer I don't believe it until I see it. My opinion and it is my opinion is correct until Dak proves other wise.

No, you're 100% wrong. Wins and Losses are a team thing. A QB's stats are his own. Romo choked many times late in must-win games, especially with the playoffs on the line. Dak has not but only 1 time in 5 seasons. Even then, Dak was playing with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder and a fractured index finger on his throwing hand, but Dak doesn't make excuses.

the only untouchable numbers for this franchise IMO are 12 and 22.

the two guys who are changing their numbers probably will not be on the team after this year anyway.

Good. Finally a true pro and all-pro player wearing number 9…much better than that last bum that wore it….his name eludes me? Whatever happened to what’s his name…
