Cowboys fans have an unending ability to overestimate this teams talent level. Listening to some around here, we ahoukd have won the last 10 Super Bowls with all this talent.

This guy was 5th round pick for a reason. If he was such a massive talent that there is no way we can hold onto him, he would have been drafted earlier by somebody else

There's been a slew of WRs that have dropped into deeper rounds than expected.
Just as there has been a slew of WRs that have been drafted extremely high ,as far as first round and still
never amounted to anything except Busts.
Late round gems are found all the time.

But with Simi i'm not looking for a starter, i'm looking for a guy with his immense physical tools that
we can groom him up on a gradual pace, spot & situate him in certain packages- where his str8 line vertical speed and
physicality can be best served - while he contributes on special teams (he's blocked FGs)

i keeping hearing him in some slot situations but i'd think that be based off size and physicality - i've watched his
film sessions and he's always not the most fluid, agile looking guy but i can see some instances where Kellen has him
both outside and occasional slot and i'll never turn away vertical speed possibilities

and i have to admit that i'm far more intrigued with Simi than what i am with Cedrick Wilson and Noah Brown
as i think it's a case that we'll keep 5 WRs
- Cooper
- Lamb
- Gallup
- Simi
- Wilson

WR is pretty deep on this team. I see him being on the practice squad this year.

I’m not so sure about that. It’s certainly deep this year, but Dallas has a bunch of free agents and a big contract decision set for next year. Personally, I think that’s why they drafted Fehoko and why they’re so interested in undrafted free agents. I foresee a ton of changes next year.

Exactly. Don't think either he or the other "steal" Cox will see much action this year unless there's a number of injuries. In other words, I hope we don't see much of them.

Right. But they need to show enough that we can feel confident in them moving up into bigger roles next year. Cox will likely either be needed to replace Smith (if we cut him because of his contract), LVE (if we don't re-sign him) or whatever role Neal is playing at LB. Fehoko likely will need to show he can step in for Gallup (because I can't see us paying what it will take to retain him) or we'll have to spend at least a third-round pick for a shot of getting a ready-to-play third receiver.

the problem I see is jerry wants the bulk of the targets to go to lamb and amari, no matter how good or hot the other players are.
So it depends on how many targets they get as to what they can do. If they are really good, then maybe they get more targets.

the problem is you and fans who think jerry dictates game day lineups, play calls, and for sur enpot targets or carries....

that narrative is still ridiculous and never ever close to the truth..

they all nearly got 1k last year in down year look's like equal distribution to me..

if the player is good he will get his turns ,

its the OC, DC, and the HC who ultimately determine this along with on offense the QB..not the gm not the owner and not for sure the big headed fan haters ..

so if somehow player on offense is hot and they go away from him , look at Moore and the QB, both have full control of gameday plays..moore has been the issue so far with balance etc

the QB will determine who get the ball and how many if that player is open..with dak , well that mean be wide open with big catch zone..:)o_O:rolleyes:

Well neither of us know for sure on this topic.
But if you think jerry would not say something to MM and Kellen if Simi was getting 15 targets a game, and gallup
10 targets a game, with lamb and amari getting 5 targets a game, I dont know what to say lol.

umm im betting 1mil to 1k that you and anyone who believes this is flat wrong..never once has it truly been suggested by any ex players, coaches, FO members etc not once, many of whom had axes to grind and blasted many people but not one ever has suggested jerry gets involved with game plans and plays..never ever ever..

just busted fan narratives, the 1k is al the conspiracy theorist that make chat up..get over yourself its not even remotely true.,,

like i stated in a very sensible way, it the OC, HC and QB who have full control of this..IF the player is truly that hot no one will complain..if we are losing , maybe...

On Simi getting 15 targets if we are winning and hes the next Superstar like most said jerry wouldn't let Romo be replaced by dak but it happened because Dak played way to well to make change. If any player is that hot you go with it..

same fans around here said they KNEW Romo was going to be forced by jerry back into the starter role when he healed and after that one drive quick td against Eagles, that would have been the moment and guess what, NEVER Happened..

well I never said jerry gets involved with game plans and plays, he would say something to them after the games, during the week, if he doesnt like whats going on.
It is his influence more than any direct commands.

im saying he wouldn't do that unless something wasn't working and we were losing and hes not just and owner hes a gm so it would be his responsibility to ask what was going on.. we saw Moore do this at the end of games that one time with zeke and not using Coop etc ..this is again on the coaches and qb

when romo didnt like play calls he changed them. Hopefully dak does it but it better work when he does..

No doubt. Even if he makes the team, he'll catch 4 balls late in garbage time.

Yes, there are guys like Hines Ward, Rod Smith, Drew Pearson, Antonio Brown, Doug Baldwin, Wes Welker, Josh Cribbs, and others who were undrafted or drafted late, but they are exceptions.

There's no need for receivers here this year, so it will be tough.

Ward was a 3rd rounder.

dak may do that now that he has the 2nd contract. he should take the best option of what is called, or
if he feels strongly enough, call his own play for that situation.
That is something you cant do when playing for that 2nd contract.

I dont know if he will or not, or if we will know if he does lol.

If Dallas wants a bigger WR to block like they had with Noah Brown, this kid could play early.
WR has enough opportunity with 3 and 4 WR sets that yearly some depth guy gets major burn.
Just looking at the roster its evident that Brown and Wilson are on a very short leash, they have vet cred at the moment, but this FO is looking to save cap, and if they can replace the 4-5, maybe the 6 too if they keep 6.
Those positions save future cap and replace Gallups or Coops if they are cap causalities, so it is very wise to look closely at who is rostered behind them currently.
Fehoko
Aaron Parker
Brandon Smith
TJ Vasher
Osi Mitchell
Malik Turner
Johnnie Dixon
Brennan Eagles
So as you can see from the current roster holds on this WR core that there is a definite interest in a certain characteristic common trait,, those that take the time will associate this trait when they take a look.

everyone in here who keeps assuming if we find another young star at wr that gallup is gone needs to get that corrected..

the older higher paid and the player who has some naggings foot/leg injuries' that wont go away is who?

Gallup will get signed and that player we all know who will be traded or cut in 2022..you think Jerry wont do it , why? gallups home grown and much younger, healthier, and will be tad cheaper..

a lot of ifs and butts here assuming a wr will be able to unseat one of these guys but my bet the FO will definitely make the tougher cut as it makes sense..

By all reports he looked like *** at OTA’s so why are people thinking Semi will turn it around in training camp and become a big contributor? He’ll be lucky to make the roster and if he does, expect to contribute on ST.

And I’m not saying his fate is sealed, just that progress typically doesn’t come from nowhere. There’s better bets and I’d put Mukuamu and Wright as two examples. At least with those two there is a hint of there talent that could be built upon.
