Before camp begins, do you believe Cowboys have talent to win a super bowl this year?

Short answer is yes.

I've said it here about a dozen times, but the talent level among all NFL teams; possibly excluding two or three annual rebuilding projects, is a lot closer than most people know or want to believe. The difference at this level is coaching, consistency, and a little luck in the injury department.

Do they have the talent? Yes.
The real question is do they have the right organizational structure and coaching staff to get the job done. I don't think so, but there is always the blind squirrel's chance.

The same organization won 3 Super Bowls. Mic drop.

Yes. They’ve got the offense that can put up points and a run game that should be able to play ball control when needed. They’ve got edge rushers and a couple of young dynamic LBs. They’ve got vets in the secondary and some DTs that likely bulked up in the off-season. I think their game is going to be score points and force turnovers. I think they win the division, then they probably have to go through Tampa and the 49ers or maybe Green Bay…with some luck they’ll be playing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Maybe. Not going to happen if the defense continues to underperform. Adding this years class will help, but there's a big gap between where they were last year and where they need to be.

There’s high levels of individual talent at the skill positions. This offensive line must stay intact for the moneymakers to do work, allowing us to complete for the division.

Beyond that, not just no — but hell no.

The defensive side is taking on numbers from the draft, including a big one in Parsons, which should give them a good shot at improving over 2020. But that’s not saying much given such a low bar. Do I believe this unit could somehow achieve respectability? Sure, it’s possible.

Then there’s the special teams that’s generally a mail-in with this organization when it should be treated with greater importance, particularly when one of the other units poses so many questions.

But this is a matter of talent, not team building which Dallas can’t seem to get right. So, overall talent, for me, remains at a level that can play for the NFC East, but not much beyond that.

Close..........but no. Still need a Leon Lett type difference maker @ DT. Is Urban that guy???? Remains to be seen. Still need a FS w/ some range. Doubt Kazee is that guy. Don't think Joseph is ready to step in as a starter @ CB. We need a RB w/ homerun speed....to take pressure off Zeke. Don't think we will ever win a SB w/ Dak. He just isn't going to be the guy to get us over the hump. The bigger the game....the smaller he plays.

I had to check and make sure Urban didn't go to Boise State after this comment.

Are people thinking Urban might have Leon Lett type skill?

Urban will flash.....but I don't think he has the presence... you know you have to double him. Leon...he commanded attention. Big difference.

Urban is older, been in the league 7 yrs. He's a decent rotational guy.

Can we create poll threads by ourselves?

Poll question:
Before camp begins, looking at this roster (both players and coaches are part of the roster but specifically not the GM) do you believe the Cowboys have the talent to win a super bowl this year?

Yes or no. Not are they going to win the super bowl but do they have the talent. No answers contingent on anything (e.g injuries or luck). Just a big picture talent evaluation. Roster talent for this poll includes players and coaches, but not the GM.

I’d like to see this poll right before camp opens and the same poll after camp ends.

No.

Not enough at S and DT. CB not enough either, though maybe our picks will develop. Edge and maybe LB has enough.

Offense has plenty for a SB team.

We'd need some unexpected breakouts on the D-line and in the secondary along with health to key players. It's possible but unlikely.

This year it's not a talent problem it will be a coaching problem if we don't at least get to the championship
