agreed.
its a nice problem to have, tho.
I think we are pretty solid at TE though it will likely be just this year
Don’t see having 2 TE on second contracts but for this year we are in great shape with 2 guys who really compliment each other

Jarwin > Schultz, that's all you need to know.
Jarwin and Schultz are book end TEs IMO, both have different skill sets, Jarwin if healthy can exploit matchups on deeper routes, but Schultz could start on most teams.

Both together bring a different dimension to the offense and ability to successfully execute a 12 personnel.

I dont know why every player in your opinion has to be greater or less then their immediate comp,, doesnt mean that because Jarwin has better skill sets in certain areas that Schultz will never see the field.

The value in a 2 TE set. 12 personnel is having 2 TEs that can actually succeed and have the fundamental skill sets together to exploit.

If Schultz gets traded, and I doubt it than so be it but better get
something coveted in return.

Having both Jarwin and Schultz together is a huge bonus to this offense, and the flexibility advantage takes nothing away from being stacked at WR, just adds to it.

Who cares what anyone thinks of Jarwin > Schultz,, why do you get stuck on these comparison values?

OFFENSE:
CeeDee Lamb
Dalton Schultz
Tyron Smith
Michael Gallup
* Noah Brown

DEFENSE
Randy Gregory
Michah Parsons
Trevor Diggs
Kelvin Joseph
Donovan Wilson
Nahshon Wright
LVE
Anthony Brown
Quinton Bohanna
* Damonte Kazee

I have heard nothing about Gallup other then the fence thing..which is surprising with Cooper out. Have heard more about Wilson a d even Reggie Davis than Gallup.

Defense haven't heard much since it got real about Nahson Wright. Although he doesn't look lost by all accounts....just maybe need to tap the brakes a bit. Not much about Donovan Wilson either. Kazee had one int but outside of that... bubkus. Say Brown will be hard to unseat. Heard much more about Gallimore than Bohannon.

From what I've seen/heard

  • Diggs, Ceedee, Gregory, and Gallimore have shown up as big improvers that we should be able to lean on this season
  • Shultz isn't giving up TE#1 without a fight
  • Parsons is a beast and can cover
  • Neale is a great run defender but struggles in coverage
  • CB depth (Wright, Joseph & Canady) have been solid but not taken Brown's job
  • Safety has looked an issue, Hooker may be the starter
  • Collins & Smith look healthy, Steele has improved as a swing tackle option.
Lawrence, Cooper, and Martin are the injury risks with Hill likely to start on PUP, Dak to a lesser extent needs to be watched.

A few flashes from Bohana, Odigizuwa, Wilson, Armstrong, and Fehoko.

TE is not meant to be a "bookend" position. The TE is meant to be a unique piece on the chessboard. I agree they each have unique skills but that just means the coaches have to figure out which one to put on the field for any given situation. When the WR corps is as deep as the one we have, using the 12 man set is limited in use. It just doesn't make sense to remove one of those WRs to add another TE. It's just not that advantageous to do so. So when there is only room for one TE on the field at a time, it's important to identify which one is better. For the Cowboys, Jarwin > Schultz. It's a distinction that matters because one will get much more time on the field while the other is sidelined. You can stubbornly ignore this or wisely accept it. There isn't even a need to debate this because it will be in your face and undeniable once the regular season gets going. So have some patience and this will get settled for everyone. Peace my brother.

Your a very patient potential optimist I believe....lol can I coin that term.. a PPO..
Im taking the usual enthusiastic approach, but I understand your hesitancy entirely, we have all heard it before right?
Sometimes I prefer to just turn the volume all the way off, and let my eyes do the translation/evaluation.

McGovern is our primary interior backup, *and* he played a year of center in college. It's a no brainer to train him up in C too.
WOuld it be better for Steele to be C? Knight? Ball?
Maybe they really like Farniok.

I read on one of the Bloging the boys update , Farniok has a lot of snap issues and probably down in the chart for the time being. Definitely not backup center level.

Screw you dude. Go back and read the practice reports from the day before he reported shoulder soreness. Tell me what they say. But you are probably too much of a little b to admit it.

Dak is a top 5-8 QB and can lead us to a SB with a good supporting cast. But fact is he was awful the day before he went out.

Shultz deserves a chance to start this season after what he showed last yr. Might not be as explosive as Jarwin, but he us far more balanced TE.
Schultz is more explosive. Jarwin is faster and better at the long stuff.
