My thinking is they were going to greatly reduce his playing time and/or possibly deactivate him with other players returning and because of his past injuries, he could have possibly said he was injured as the reason for the demotion which would have locked them into to next year's salary.

I am not saying he would have done that, but rather they likely went proactive just on the off chance he (or his agent) took that route when his playing time was reduced or he was deactivated for a game.

This combined with likely already knowing they were not going to bring him back next year made the decision to address it now more feasible and relevant.

Again, this is just my thoughts.
That was super proactive. They were NOT going to pay him next year and were taking no chance on that one. Lol.

Jaylon still comes off as naïve/delusional. He says it was nothing more than business. If he was playing up to the level of his contract they would have kept him. In Jaylon’s mind he was playing at a high level and if anyone doesn’t believe it he’ll just tell them to look at the film.

It was business. If his contract was more favorable to the Cowboys they probably would have kept him.

You won't hear one person that actually had interactions with jaylon day a single negative word about him. You guys just suck.

Jaylon talks a good game. So what if he is buddy- buddy with the players and coaches. Jaylon just plain stinks. The film doesn’t lie. He could only get vet min from a team desperate for LBs since they just lost two.

More teams would be interested in Anae, Kamara, Gifford, and Bernard if the Cowboys cut them than there was for Jaylon.

lol. What do you expect him to say?

Hell, I bet everyone on this forum who reports to someone, tells that someone they are “elite” during annual reviews/whatever.
No I only claim I’m elite after being fired

lmao, they cut him because they didn't want him poisoning the locker room because of his playing time getting cut more and more. The time was right and it was time to end the pity party.

"I was out there outrunning everybody on the field" shut up you gimp, you was out there avoiding contact and jumping on guys back 9 yards downfield. sheesh.

I'm a little confused by his comment. He said he is playing at the place he wants to play. So, does that mean he didn't want to play for the Cowboys?

Some of it had to do with business because he wasn’t playing up to the level of his contract. They didn’t want to be stuck for $9 million next season if an injury pops up. If he was playing at a high-level they wouldn’t have cared. His subpar play has been a big topic of conversation the past couple of seasons. The move was mostly performance-based.

Jaylon doesn’t just suck at football he’s also a head case with delusions of grandeur.
Yea because anyone would answer "mediocre".
Then you people would say he sucks because he doesn't even believe in himself.

Just move on. He has

Wasn’t playing up to the level of his contract. So on field production was definitely a factor

exactly. I am in the annual review process for some of my direct reports. They all rated themselves as "exceeds expectations" in every category.

A bunch of people around here who probably can't even do a sit up looking for reasons to vilify someone else.

This is why LVE said what he said. Anyone who thinks LVE is alone in his feelings are a moron. He said what others say in private.

Some people said he was an elite player because he was among the league's best in tackles last year. They never mentioned that 90% of the tackles were 7 yards past the line of scrimmage or more.
