The LG and C spots are the weak links. Don’t see how we keep Connor Williams going forward. Someone will pay him— but he is not a long term answer at LG for us.

So it makes sense to get our best 5 out there now and LG is the easier position to upgrade vs C. McG or Zack are upgrades— However, McGovern’s most natural position is RG. Zack may be able to transition to LG faster and expedite the process.

Smith
Zack
Biadasz
McGovern
Collins

We put some more beef next to Biadasz and hope Zack and McGovern can shore things up on the inside.

I realize swapping McG for Williams is more straight forward— but part of me just really wants to see Zack and Tyron cave defenses in on the left side lol

Stop. Just stop. You want to mess around with the guys that protect Dak because why? We can't run? We can't pass? Chemistry on the OLine is critical for success.

Have you not seen Biadasz and Williams getting bullrushed backwards lol? Or Williams leading the NFL in flags?

Zack is a stud wherever you put him— and McGovern has played well at RG. The bye week is the best time to make a change if we are going to do it. If we want to win it all— we need our best 5 OL out there.

If the team is having success, they will not make major changes. Also, note this team plays more of a zbs, not a power one, in which they ask their lineman to effectively block on the move where both Connor and Biaz excel at, McGovern/Collins are more phone booth power players who struggle hitting moving targets.

McGovern has been excellent with moving targets at fullback.

Any conversation that starts with flipping Martin from RG to LG is DOA. Why to people even think this may happen??? To help out Conner McGovern??? The same stupid threads on this board every week

I think the easiest change to make while keeping our five best on the field (as demonstrated by their performance, not pedigree) would be to keep Steele at RT and move Collins back to LG where he's played at a high level before.

That would also be a viable option

Why? He played RT well. Larry Allen bounced around from LG to LT. If McGovern needs the security of a more comfortable position fit— and Zack can play LG at a high level (why wouldn’t he be able to?)— why not make the switch?

Unless you are fine with continuing to watch Williams get flagged and stall drives — and he and Biadasz getting collapsed a few times every game.

We have been able to overcome some of these issues— but sooner or later— they can cost you a game

Are you suggesting this mid-season or next year?

I don't like moving Zack from the right side to the left side, ever. 8th year in the pros and he's never been on that side. Maybe I'm talking out of my rear, but I think it matters when you have mastered anchoring/hand techniques from that side - no reason to mess with that.

Mid-season (and it would have to happen this week) I'd consider McG at center, IF he can handle the snaps and mental aspect. Otherwise I'd stay as-is because we all know the injury grim reaper will change all these plans at some point.

Someone will pay him? Yeah, the Cowboys! Just because he loses his starter status doesn't mean we cut bait with the guy. We should move some folks but I disagree with your moves. I would do it more like this...

LT Smith
LG McGovern
C Biadasz
RG Martin
RT Collins

Swing Tackle Steele
G depth Williams

I am suggesting exploring this now. Replacing Williams with either Zack, McG, or as another poster suggested— La’El— shores up one of our weak spots inside

Trying to replace Biadasz is more difficult due to how much goes into the C position. Plus— I doubt Williams is in our long term plans— so getting McG some starting reps if he is ready for them— makes sense

If McG can handle the move— then absolutely. My point is that Zack may be in a better place to make the swap from RG to LG then McG due to his skill and experience. Let the kid play where he is most comfortable— let the vet work on absorbing some new rhythms and techniques

Someone will pay him if Ereck Flowers makes 10m AAV Connor Williams will get at least that. The amount of money that he will see will have fans here scratching their heads. He will be gone in FA. quality line man are hard to find.

Disagree. Leave the lineup alone as much as possible. Remove the weak link with a fresh link and be done with it.

Williams for McG or LaEl makes more sense this week because that isn't shaking things up too much.

But LaEl still upgrades RT over Steele and unfortunately we might need Steele for a game or two at LT down the stretch.

he is not the long term answer, but he is here now. is he better than McGovern? we are not worrying about future and training McGovern. we need to put best guard out there and coaches think its Williams....we can sit here and question it...but he and biadasz are the weak link on the line, we just have to live thru it.....nobody can have 5 probowlers on the OL. we have three (when collins gets back)

I don’t know how you make an argument for putting the best OL out there and it includes automatically reinserting Collins into the lineup. The short amount of time he played this season he got beat like a drum. He looked like he was moving in quicksand. Steele has been tremendous. If you make a move, it’s Collins to LG, but I don’t think they plan to do anything.

I wouldn't give up so easily on Williams. Just because he had a horrible game on Sunday doesn't mean he sucks. The OL has been playing well all year in fact are #2 in the league in rushing.
