One can only hope (as a Cowboys fan) that NY decides to commit another year to a player with 29 picks and 37 fumbles (20 lost) in 37 career games played (11-26 record). I'd start a Go Fund Me for a long term deal.

Awful, but they got two WRs, down by 14 on a third and Looks like he thought Barkley was suppose to stop on a screen, but he keeps running. Free reign for the defender about to hit Jones.

Like what type of play design was that.

And that’s what you’re being informed about. The offense was headed toward the top before Garrett ever got here. Feel free to look that up for yourself. Payton and Parcells built that offense and put the pursues in place. The table was set.

You tout a 2nd ranked offense. Up from 4th the year before. Hardly any huge accomplishment.

And Sparano was baby sitting in 2007, meaning he had the actual reigns. And per reports, they were looking to rehire him in 2012. But the Jets ended up hiring him, and we ended up with Callahan who completely revamped our OL and RG.

And this would have meant a return to the man blocking schemes of old, not the zone blocking schemes and the superior RG and OL talent we developed with Callahan,

Not to mention. The years our running game were good under Garrett. The running game itself was vanilla as could be. They ran the same 2-3 running plays all season long but it worked because the cowboys OL talent was superior.

then as soon as Tyron gets hurt and Frederick gets sick. It all went to hell because just calling the same 3 running plays didn’t work anymore.

Or how about Garrett’s record when he didn’t have Romo bailing him out? Laughably bad. Record-setting for losing.

And don’t forget Dan Reeves, brought in by Wade to ‘help’ Garrett, before the guy was disrespected to the point of quitting.

The absolute worst decision on franchise history is Jones treatment of Garrett here. OK, I understand the original hire and the hope that came with it, but sticking around this long with this much of a leash, was unacceptable.

By 2010 they were a mess. The rushing TDs dropped after 2006 while the pressure shifted completely to the passing game and the D slowly wilted to crap. He was the assistant HC and resident genius who had Jerry's ear when it came to evaluating the roster. That was THE problem. Clueless while Jerry was fully making decisions based on that or just winging on it on his own. A double edged sword of pure crap. A catch 22.

I don’t even understand the ‘original hire’ part. How do you hire a guy, then decide whether he’s your head coach or coordinator, before ultimately hiring your actual head coach? That’s both delusional and dysfunctional. And it shows why it was doomed to fail from the start. But Jones lived in denial for a decade with Garrett.

I'm in no way, shape, or form alluding to that idea that I think Garrett is a good coach......however.......I do think the Giants issues run way deeper than just JG.

Garrett is a position coach tops or a guy that probably belongs in the FO, doing business development or marketing work. He can’t strategize or make the decisions needed in real time to exploit mis-matches on the field. He doesn’t seem to even have that type of vision to recognize it. He could never blend a RG with a PG here. He definitely wasn’t a visionary in terms of play calling.

Dear Lord,
If you are willing, would you please consider sending Jason Garrett home packing. I’m sure he is a nice guy, but he is a lousy offensive coordinator and he is ruining our team, stunting Daniel Jones’ growth, and not properly utilizing some pretty talented players we have assembled. We’ve seen enough. We know the influence of the Mara family is strong over Joe Judge, but we believe your influence is stronger.

Thank you for listening and considering this simple “somewhat selfish” request. Nevertheless, your will be done.

Lovingly,
K

Timing is impeccable in Jones world. Jim Garrett retires in 2004 and Lacewell in 2005, meaning prime Parcells coaching. As soon as Parcells retires, Jerry calls Garrett out of the blue when he is at the Senior Bowl, with the Miami staff.

Jones actually had a deal with the Dolphins owner to get a deal done in 24 hours and Garrett didn’t even know apparently.

That was two days after Parcells retired

That’s basically how Jason reported it. it’s mind boggling.

I don’t buy the full story. Jim Garrett must have been in Jerry’s ear too.

Parcells probably has stories for days.

Too bad none of the OL blocked for a screen. I think Jones just thought his center was eligible. He and the LT did a decent job, so much so that they looked like receivers.

Your right. Nobody is blocking for a screen. But then that begs the question:

They running play action with Barkley and he runs a flare route.

So why is Jones rolling out to the right side on the snap of the ball?

I mean, what type of play design is that, where you roll right, to target a RB running a flare route all the way in the other side, after a play action?

If you look at Barkley, he actually isn’t even running full speed, but then suddenly takes off. I think Barkley just winged it at that point to run a flare, when he saw the LB just sitting in position.

Garrett's offense scored 10 points.

Moore's offense scored 9, with far greater talent.

Jason Garrett will NEVER be a head coach in the NFL again.

Jerry loved that man so much that he even said AFTER letting him go said that Garrett would coach a team to a Super Bowl one day.

That is the football mind that's running this organization.
Jerry has a habit of hiring HCs that never get another head coaching job in the NFL again.
