Dallas will do it's "due diligence" and show "interest". But, I doubt they would want to part with the draft capital it may take. Not to mention the contract he currently has in place. Stephen won't be on board at all.

The only way it happens is if Jerry feels desperate since missing out on Gregory and other pass rushers.

His cap hit for the Vikings is $26 million. That's not the cap hit we'd absorb if we acquired him. That cap hit is around $20 million. His base is like $1.4 million but he carries an $18.5 roster bonus that goes live March 20, 2022. Any team acquiring him before that date absorbs that roster bonus commitment.

However, his cap hit in 2023 is much smaller so a team acquiring him could attempt to extend/restructure his deal to lower this year's cap hit of approx. $20 million.

In summation…Dallas won’t even budge.

Looks like the Vikes ran up the credit card bill and wants another team to bail them out the way the contract is structured.

My concern is a neck injury that keep him out of 2020 season. Next, in 2021 Hunter has a torn pec and his season ends. Is this guy breaking down?

He makes 26mil this year it would have to be a trade and then immediate new contract offer for it to work. Probably worth our 3rd but if you could swing it for a 4th I would be all in on that
That's not how contract structures work. Cowboys would only pay for his base rate and roster bonus if he was traded

His total figure for those 2 metric is 2 years 25.3 million total.

There is no chance in hell that Stephen would go after a player with this kind of salary cap hit. You are fooling yourself if you think otherwise.
Cowboys don't pay anything for the signing bonus and restructure of that cap hit so overall cap hit is meaningless in a trade.

His total payout for the new team would be 2 years for around 25-26 million total
