Can’t just name one. Here’s my top 3 :
  • 1964- my dad took me to my first Cowboys game at the Cotton Bowl when I was 6. They played the browns. Got to see Dandy Don, Bob Lily, Don Perkins, and the great Jim Brown.
  • Jan 1972- SB VI- Cowboys first SB win, 24-3 vs Miami.
  • Jan 1993- NFC Championship win 30-20 vs niners in SF.
So many great memories.
Yep it was hard to narrow it down to one.
I was thinking of giving 3 as well.
78 SB
93 SB
Hail Mary

After being a fan for 47 years it was not easy to narrow it down, but here is mine:

For me it was the 1978 Cowboy's SB victory over the Bronco's.

I was a brokenhearted kid after the Cowboys lost to the Squealers in the 1976 SB, my first season as a Cowboy's fan.

For us to win it all in such a dominating fashion was so, so sweet !

So here is a chance for a positive slow offseason thread !

Whatcha got ???

I was watching then too. And although that was a great victory, I have to go with what made me the most excited. And I can't get past this.....Harper's breaking away, Harper's got midfield........

Man, after all those years nothing made me more happy than that one play. I probably watched it on youtube 4000 times!!

BTW, it's '75 and we won in '77. Seeing those other years just hurt my sensibilities.

So many to choose from, the whole family gathered round the TV watching them beat the Broncos in 78, of course anything involving the triplets. The rainy day Emmit rushed for over 200 yards vs the Eagles. Also remember the game when we beat the Eagles after getting beat down by them several times, was it 1991? Kmart returned a punt for a TD with Issiac Holt throwing a killer block. Also remember Holt calling out a Eagles player "you better get back on the cover of that Lucky Charms box"

LOL, what a hole that stadium was. The field was such crap. You can even see the toilet paper loose on the field. Very fitting.

What's with the complaint about Holt's block? The dude was diving head first at his groin area. Of course you're going to get a forearm to the head.

The first SB win against the Dolphins in 1972 (1971 season) and the first 1990's SB win are the ultimate highlight moments. Aside from that, the Clint Longley/Mad Bomber game stands out, as does the Hail Mary game.

I gave the dates of the years for those 2 Superbowls and they were played in the years I listed.
You gave the years for the seasons.
That Harper play is one of most popular ones mentioned by cowboys fans in this thread.

Yep, 1991. Aikman got sacked 11 times the first time the Cowboys played Philly that year. Things looked sad and hopeless. But the Cowboys ended up beating Philly the next time, and went 11-5 on the season and got to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Oh I know. I was kind of joking around because when I see '76 and '78, all I can think of is disappointment. At least you kept it consistent. Some people mix the two. That gets really confusing.

I figured the Harper play would be popular.

To be honest - all of the memories-moments mentioned by CZ members here are favorites -- because I was around to see them all.
And I will go the record now that I have no favorite Cowboys player...watched and cheered for them all throughout the 6 decades - and counting.
HOWEVER - I am well aware and recall throughout the franchise's history, there have been dozens of team players and stars that have had revolting moments \done disgusting things \ been immersed in disturbing periods during their lives away from their exploits on the field.

Harper was not known for his speed. LOL

He wasn't a world class sprinter, but he got deep a lot. Enough speed that if you give him a running start, he's getting out there.

SB 12 was probably my best day in general concerning the Cowboys. I was 10, about to turn 11 and the snow was coming down. I just got back from sled riding to watch the SB and got news that school was canceled the next day. Then I watched the Cowboys stomp Denver with my friends. I'll remember that Sunday forever.

Side note. Since they added the 18th week, last year's Super Bowl was played on my Birthday. What could have been better had the Cowboys been there?

The day we were finally rid of Jerry & his offspring! Oh my bad, that must have been a very good dream.

I just had a visit from my great great grandson.
They just invented time travel and he came back to talk Cowboys.
Evidently Spalding's grandson is GM.
Cowboys have now not been to the SB in
103 years.

So they're the Cubs of the NFL, hopefully they have gotten a couple more Wild Card wins

When Jimmy was putting the cake together buying the groceries there was a punt return I think Kelvin Martin against the Eagles went for a TD .

Buddy Ryan was unleashing one hell of a defense on a young Troy they went after the kicker Zendejas basically kicking Cowboy butt taking names .

And then that game when the tables turned Martin returned that punt you knew Jimmy was building something special .

Irvin catching that TD right before halftime of the first super bowl win of that era. I had not said a single word since kickoff even when people around me cheered , I was wound so tight , when that TD occurred I really started believing that it could be real , I let out a massive primal scream cheer . It was the most exciting moment I can remember as a fan since I started watching in 1977.
