Took a major school yard beat down.

But ironically, they had several chances to win. The Oline penalties kept killing any chance of that. I seem to remember gregory also with multiple offsides or hands to the face penalties that extended drives for them.

We couldn't beat good teams last season, looked and were coached awful in the one-and-done game at home, we got worse in the offseason...and we have to wait until week 5 to see if we are a SB team? More like we'll know by week 5 if we are a top 5 2023 draft team. If we look like a SB team by week 5, then "Jerry's Way" really will be working.

No the offseason was actually well done. Got out from under bad contracts from overpaid veterans and replaced them with good young talent.

What the Cowboys did this year will have positive ramifications for several years. Those weren't necessarily instant benefit moves.

Cowboys wouldnt have been a SB team with or without those veterans. And had the Cowboys NOT gotten rid of those veterans, they would have more holes in other places.

We'll have a good idea on whether or not this team is a Superbowl contender by Week 5.

Cowboys play the Bengals week 2 and the reigning Superbowl Champions Week 5.

Yes, these games are early in the season and key players may be missing, but these games should give us a better idea on how if Dallas has a chance at a Superbowl.

:starspin:
I don't think so....its how you play in the second half of the season. 2021, by the 5th, 6th week, we were a shoe in for superbowl and best offense in the league and then things fell apart.....teams who play better in the second half of the season have a better chance.

and if we are 5-0 what then? We still are not a Super Bowl team. We are in first place after 5 games That's it

True but it would build confidence in this team, you are talking about 3 of the 1st 5 as SB contending teams, not just playoff teams but teams who in the last 2 years a have gone to the SB in Tampa, LA and Cinn. Taking into account Cowboys have been unable to beat top teams. Those games could be a big spring board for this team to show them they can beat the best once you do that you start playing to win instead of playing not to lose.

This team is not a Superbowl Contender. There is no evidence that demostrates any different. Put this way, if a gun was to your head and you had to bet your life savings on one team to win the SB who would you choose?

winning games vs Tampa, LA and Cinn would show major improvement regardless of when we play them. These are the games that for a good while Dallas has failed in beating top teams I think gives this team the confidence to know not thing or hope but know they can beat top teams. Until they clear that hurdle they will continue to have doubts and it is hard to play this game with doubt.

I think the offensive line got worn down by midseason. No one on the line played particularly well the second half of last season. Dak and our RBs playing significantly worse after the Patriots game and the line is to blame for much of that.
daks calf strain/pull and zekes back and knee and pollards foot are also part of it.

I think I have a pretty good idea already. Same coach, same QB, same front-office-for-life, no significant player acquisitions.

This team that got bounced in the WC round, the only home team to do it, has no reason to think "Super Bowl", realistically.

Ridiculous to think “ early season games “ don’t mean as much as the “ later part “ of the schedule . ALL games get counted in the standings and it seems to me teams like the Chiefs Rams Packers previous Patriots teams all held high seeds and had home field in the playoffs. Dallas does not want Green Bay on the road in the playoffs.

The post has merit . With early season games against Bucs Bengals Rams yes you will get a sense of how Dallas stacks up with the best in league. Anyone who thinks this schedule is “ easy “ put down the pipe and walk away .

It will benefit us in years to come IF Jerry and Son do what needs to be done. And the reality is that we actually could have been SB contenders this season if we would had been aggressive in FA.

Yah, I dont agree with that one. And it would have been to the detriment to future cap years and at the expense of not developing our young talent.

I'm fine with detriment to our young "talent" if it means a Super Bowl now.

It’s what Philadelphia did in 2017. We loaded up on older players, and the roster and salary cap slowly deteriorated over the next 5 years until we could finally tear it down and reassemble this offseason.

But in those 5 years we made the playoffs 4 times, 4 playoff wins and a SB trophy. I’d Happily do that again
